The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo used to have Secretary Birds on its African Savannah. We recall seeing one recently we believe in the Atlanta Zoo.Does not seem like many zoos exhibit them anymore.Would like them to make a return to Cleveland.

You forgot Beira antelopes
Did Brookfield Zoo really have Beira Antelopes!? When?? Anyone ever see a picture??
that seems very unlikely. Do you have any reference to back that up?
interesting indeed. I don't remember the reference in there to beira. What does it say?
Oh yeah, I''d like to see Broad-Snouted Caimans, Virginia Opossums, Reindeer, and Cougars come back to Beardsley. There are so many other animals used to be exhibited, but I think that was before the zoo earned AZA accreditation, and before I was born.
Also Yellow Anacondas and Timber Wolves at Beardsley
I know you posted this months ago but did you know that Beardsley used to have Asian Elephants? Also, where were the Cougars, Warthogs, Galapagos Tortoises, and Capybaras held?
Yes, Beardsley did use to have Asian Elephants, but they don't have the finances to manage eles, so I'd rather not Beardsley acquire them. I can't remember where Cougars were; Capybaras were held in what is now the peccary exhibit until about 2004; Warthogs were a temporary display in the former Capy enclosure in summer 2007, and when they left the peccaries moved in; and I don't remember where the tortoises are, although Beardsley did have a Galapagos and an Aldabra over this summer.
I doubt anacondas will be coming back as they got too big for their exhibit, and the zoo is currently searching for Gray Wolves. They might bring back Andean Bears in Phase 2 of South American Adventure.
Beardsley actually had a huge amount of species that are no longer there, but that was before Gregg Dancho became director.
For Lisbon, these would be my top ones ( also note that this is only species exhbited in the last 20 years or so, don´t want to include really old ones...)
