There were so many species that were at this zoo that listing them would be impossible. I would not want to see elephants back because there is no space for them in a zoo that is 19 acres and in the middle of the 3rd biggest city in the U.S.

From what i remember, it was just mentioned in a list of animals that the Brookfield zoo had at the time, and i saw beira antelope listed, i will read more up on it and give you more information later if i can find it

Oh yeah, I''d like to see Broad-Snouted Caimans, Virginia Opossums, Reindeer, and Cougars come back to Beardsley. There are so many other animals used to be exhibited, but I think that was before the zoo earned AZA accreditation, and before I was born.

I know you posted this months ago but did you know that Beardsley used to have Asian Elephants? Also, where were the Cougars, Warthogs, Galapagos Tortoises, and Capybaras held?

For Lisbon, these would be my top ones ( also note that this is only species exhbited in the last 20 years or so, don´t want to include really old ones...)

Malbrouk Vervet
Crab-Eating Racoon
African Forest Elephant
Guiana crested Eagle
Iberian Lynx
Giant Sable Antelope
Long-Finned Pilot Whale
South-Western Black Rhinoceros
Angolan Diademed Guenon
Harp Seal
Mediterranean Monk Seal

Yes, Beardsley did use to have Asian Elephants, but they don't have the finances to manage eles, so I'd rather not Beardsley acquire them. I can't remember where Cougars were; Capybaras were held in what is now the peccary exhibit until about 2004; Warthogs were a temporary display in the former Capy enclosure in summer 2007, and when they left the peccaries moved in; and I don't remember where the tortoises are, although Beardsley did have a Galapagos and an Aldabra over this summer.
I doubt anacondas will be coming back as they got too big for their exhibit, and the zoo is currently searching for Gray Wolves. They might bring back Andean Bears in Phase 2 of South American Adventure.
Beardsley actually had a huge amount of species that are no longer there, but that was before Gregg Dancho became director.

Also, for the Lisbon Oceanario i would like to see these again:

Giant Manta Ray
Blue Shark
Hawksbill Turtle
Scalloped Hammerhead Shark

I agree, Beardsley doesn't have room or money for elephants. Mabye the cougars were in the tiger exhibit (when did the cougars leave and tigers come?). Seems Beardsley has gotten a lot of use from the Peccary exhibit. When warthogs were listed on the zoos website, it said they were held either with or next to the Galapagos Tortoises and i know they had galaps and aldabras over the summer i saw them a few days before they left. I understand if the anaconda got too big but i think they have two boa constrictors in its old exhibit now (thought they probably only exhibit them 1 at a time). That's good that the zoo is looking for new wolves and I'm glad they didn't decide to add something like coyotes to it. I think they should replace the Timbers with Arctic Wolves. Yes, I heard they want to bring Andean Bears back for Phase 2 along with an expansion of the Andean Condor exhibit. Do they plan on bringing in tapirs for Phase 1 or Phase 2? What does Gregg Dancho have to do with the animal collection? Did he decide to limit it or something?
