You're right, I don't live in Europe

With your travelling, in the future there's more chance seeing the zoochatter Giant Eland in Europe than the species.

The now-deceased douc langur in Philadelphia; apparently one of the only zoos outside their native range to have kept them (with the same captivity issues as the more famous proboscis monkey)

Beauval and Chleby in Europe keep them now, along with Cologne until quite recently

My best captive ones are probably Cypriot mouflon, Great spotted cuckoo, Cream-bellied fruit dove and Arabian barn owl.

It’s a fairly common bird I’m afraid. I suspect most European zoochatters will have seen it.

None of those actually. I haven’t gone bird watching much but I wish to start doing it more on my free time

Seen it both in the wild as well as in captivity ( even took care for it at Walsrode in the mid-1980s were both Goldcrest and Firecrest were kept behind the scenes ). Wunderful little birds !

The reason why I mentioned seeing a goldcrest is because just yesterday I had a very nice experience with one in my local forest. It was very active and pretty tame since it didn’t mind me observing it for a few minutes.

I've seen Goldcrest, but in China not Europe. And the very next bird I saw was also a lifer - a Common Wren.
