Any Beatles fans?

To coincide with the release of the band's new single Now And Then, I thought I'd make a new Beatles thread to appreciate why people love the band, or don't you're all free to voice your opinion, and discuss favourite albums/songs etc.
 
I'll go first with a question we've all seen many times before: What is their best album? Personally, I'd go for Rubber Soul. It's excellent flow and unique sound makes it accessible for new and old fans alike. Revolver's a close second though just because it has some amazing standalone songs on it.
 
As I was born in 1955 ,I was brought up in the fantastic 1960s music. There were so many great bands, stones kinks,and later led zeppelin(name drop John Bonham ,occasional drinking mate)canned heat and so many more. Every week there seemed a new single out by the beatles and everyone was a hit.I loved Sgt Peppers and the Revolver album .But my favourite single was helter-skelter from the white album ,this song really allowed Paul McCartney to use his fantastic voice as a rock singer. I could have gone on more about the beatles but it's getting late and I need some kip
 
Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you saying that you knew John Bonham? If so please tell me more as he's one of my favourite drummers if you don't mind.

Yes I did!!!.I met him through a very good friend of mine, Nellie (who later became my best man).Nellie grew up with Bonzo and was Led Zeps unofficial photogapher(love to know what happened to those photos).Nellie would pick me up on a Sunday evening and we drive over to Cutnall Green ,where Bonzo lived and go to the Cheqers pub. We would stop for a couple of pints and have a natter with Bonzo about this fantastic life of his. One time Robert Plant turned up ,which was fun,I think that I was on cloud 9 for a week!!.This was 1970,1971.Stopped going over to Cutnall Green when I got married, money was being spent on other things. I was also a drinking buddy of Bonzos younger brother Mick,the stories he used to tell were legendary. Unfortunately both Bonzo and Mick are no longer with us. Those were the days!!!!

Off the top of my head ,I can't think of a beatles song with a zoo, but they did the song, I am the walrus

The song "Baby You're a Rich Man"
includes the line
"You keep all your money in a big brown bag inside a zoo"

EDIT The Beatles also recorded versions of
"Leave My Kitten Alone" and "Three Cool Cats" though they weren't original Beatles compositions.

No, but the song does have Harry the Horse in it to keep the animal theme going.
 
Bad Boy (one of their rock and roll covers) has a line about shooting a canary and feeding it to the neighbours cat!!! And then something about a cocker spaniel??? I'll find the full lyrics tomorrow.

That's "Bad Boy" (written by Larry Williams) with the lyrics:

Born in 97. Beatles are my absolute favourite and I love them more than anything - all my friends do too. Seeing Sir Paul at glastonbury in 2022 was a highlight of a lifetime. They’re still the greatest ever and everybody of my generation still appreciates them as if they were new.
 
Same here, born in 2010 and know quite a few Beatles fans but the numbers are dwindling. I suppose a lot of your music taste is based on what your parents liked, if they were into thar sort of thing. My dad is a huge music lover and loves David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, The Who and classic ska bands such as The Specials and The Selector. Now with this foundation, I have expanded this by adding my all time favourites The Beatles and of course the legendary Queen. I like the bands I like because of the type of music played to me growing up: Good music!!!!
 
My older brother went to see the beatles at Worcester in 1963.When he came home my mum and dad excitedly asked him if had enjoyed himself, they were surprised when he answered NO.They asked why no he said all I could hear was screaming bloody girls, he became a Rolling Stones fan after that
 
Ha ha! My Grandad saw them at Southport on the Please Please Me album tour in 1963 at the Floral Hall. He said to me that "you could've replaced them with cardboard cutouts and it'd have been the same" meaning they were boring with no stage presence! He also became more of a Stones fan after that night. It just seems crazy to think that there was a time when my Grandad, lazing in his arm chair with a wooly jumper on, was once in the same room as John Lennon!!!!!
