On March 18th, the aquarium announced they opened a new exhibit named Babies! which will present the many baby animals that were born/hatched at the facility. The exhibit opened to the public on May 27th and featured a jelly lab, as well as signage depicting achievements from the aquarium.

No it was not announced that they transferred a black-necked stilt. They transferred ownership of the stilt in order to "eliminate an unnecessary loan", meaning it was a stilt already at Los Angeles Zoo.
Happy 25th Birthday to the Aquarium of the Pacific! It looks like the aquarium is having a photography contest to celebrate it's 25th birthday. I like this idea! I am sure that certain members on ZooChat that live in or frequently visit the area could participate.

I just want to say, I cannot believe that they are 25 this year! I visited the Aquarium of the Pacific on opening day when I was only 5 years old. I actually remember it like it was yesterday when there was no aquarium in Long Beach.
Recently the aquarium announced via social media that with the 25 years celebration they releasing new exhibits. The first to be announced is the SoCal Gallery which already started work months ago and will open as a completely redone Gallery (exhibit for the amber forest and Sea Lions).

The opening date is July 1st, by far the most interesting addition will be the Purple Hydrocorals which the aquarium used to hold a few years ago.

The exhibit opened today, and someone was doing a livestream of it. The wifi kept cutting out on his end so it kept jumping to random parts and he didn't really show a lot of the signage unfortunately, but here's a few of the species I was able to recognize;

There's definitely a lot more that wasn't shown, especially on the signage, so hopefully someone will be able to put out a video that shows everything or compiles a list of all the species.
I will be going Monday to see the exhibit and get a list of the species on exhibit.

Conservation program helps bolster wild population of critically endangered southern mountain yellow-legged frog.
Approximately one hundred and seventy critically endangered southern mountain yellow-legged frogs were released into their wild habitat in the Southern California mountains on August 29 and 30, 2023. Most of the tadpoles were hatched at the Los Angeles Zoo and then traveled to the Aquarium of the Pacific and Santa Ana Zoo to be raised into frogs. Around ninety of the frogs were raised at the Aquarium of the Pacific and fifty were raised at the Santa Ana Zoo. The remaining frogs were from a group of tadpoles that were rescued from the Bobcat Fire that the Aquarium received in 2021.
“Releases of endangered species are exciting moments, but what makes this release extra special is that these frogs are from a genetically under-represented population, which can help to further increase the chances of this species’ survival,” said Brett Long, the Aquarium’s director of mammals and birds.
