Blackpool Zoo Are there any new exhibits coming next year?

I hadn't realised either. The zoo could benefit from resigning the monkey house by the lake to just one species rather than on a rotation. With a small refurbishment it could make a great permanent gibbon house or maybe even moved some of the gibbons (maybe a group of two or three) to orangutan outlook. They'd enjoy the high rise climbing structures.

"Nykasi" born in June 1973 was a white rhino sorry
According to the White Rhinoceros Studbook, this rhino was transferred to Whipsnade on 5th November 1974 and then sent to Beijing the following month. (Incidentally the studbook spells its name "Tdnykasi".)

Would be nice to see the gibbons mixed with the orangutans, I’d like to see how they would interact with each other

It'd be great! Meerkats, tortoises, crocodiles, various primates and bird species.
Yeah, I think it would be nice to have it as an African desert house with African birds, reptiles, amphibians and inverts living there. I’d also like Blackpool to bring sloths to the collection, it would be nice to see them in the world of wings aviary

Never thought about having gibbons in with the orangutans but I think it would look great. Perhaps a few more ropes for the gibbons.

The old elephant house is transformed into a state of the art africa house. The main attraction here is rhinos but the house would also be home to primates, small mammals, birds and reptiles. Keep world of wings as it is quite new. Secondly, transform the giraffe house and the surrounding fields into a savanah enclosure with zebra, ostrich and of course the blesbock. I would also move the bongo into the old camel area to male way for the south american expansion. The camels would go somewhere in the children's farm area (possibly where the red river hogs are now and move them to the africa house). This would be home to maned wolves, tapir, capybara, mara, vicuna and giant anteater. The maned wolves would be separate with the rest of the animals calling a larger enclosure home. This would have various terrain. A small lake, large field and access to woodland perhaps and would run alongside the wolves. The lakeside monkey house becomes an area just built for gibbons making it quite large for them.

The old elephant house has always been linked to rhinos potentially being housed there, IMO, aside from bears, it is the one species which Blackpool have always lacked. The bongo are no longer in the collection, the blesbok and ostrich are also down to single numbers. The children's farm is a relatively newer development (although twelve years old this year) so couldn't see that going anytime soon.

Maned wolves are a great idea, the zoo's current pair of wolves are nine-year old brothers, so there's a likelihood that Blackpool may go into a new species once the current pair pass away. The area where the giraffe are now may require some development first, extending into the other paddock where rhea, ostrich and muntjac are held would be good and could allow the zebra to be moved down. The reindeer are a bit of a waste in that enclosure, considering it once held bison, the reindeer numbers could be shortened down and move the remaining ones to the current children's farm as was the case when the exhibit first opened.

Yeah I know about the bongo and other hoofestock. I mentioned them as it was an old map I was using to show that that'd be a good place for species held there to go.

Putting the reindeer in the children’s farm area does sound like a great idea and a animal I would like to see is a species of bear (probably the Andean bear) to the park just in any space they can fit them in.

So aside from completely new enclosures and massive renovations, are there any small changes you could see happening. Such as this year for example: We got the new big cat area, but also had the new penguin expansion to protect them from bird flu. I think something small like this could fit the monkey house nicely.

Really, I think the outdoor orangutan enclosure needs a MASSIVE upgrade as now a days it is starting to look its age quite a bit.

Upgrade it to allow the integration of the gibbon families. It'd really help distinguish the traditional ape house feel they seem to be going for due to the joint corridor with the gorillas. This could be achieved by adding some more ropes and smaller aspects of the climbing structures so they feel more comfortable.

Does anyone here like the idea of adding some asian hoofestock to the base camp. There is certainly space for them and would be nice for the fields to look more like the elephants habitat.

Yeah, species like blackbuck, nilgai and other similar species would be nice to see Roaming around with the elephants, but it would be nice to see the antelope/deer have their own area for a bit of privacy from the elephants.

Private indoor quarters for sure but I'm not sure extra outdoor field space is needed as the elephants are not always on the grass and can often be found in their closed off sandy areas by the pool. This could work well on a basic rotation system where each species has time alone and together.
