I've read somewhere it would be Ananda Yinghtway (currently in Zoo de Maubeuge), but haven't found any confirmation.Quick question but after Fahim leaves Copenhagen for Lodz which Bull will they receive
It has become unclear whether this will continue, as four elephants are already moving from Dublin to the USA.and it has been confirmed that Trong Nhi and Nhi Linh will head to Smithsonian National Zoo
If you look at the North American Asian elephant population thread you can see that SNZ has applied and sent in the paperwork for the import so there’s a pretty good chance that the import will happen some time next year.I've read somewhere it would be Ananda Yinghtway (currently in Zoo de Maubeuge), but haven't found any confirmation.

He got it sliced off in a hydraulic door as it was closing.Does anyone know why Tunga the Bull Elephant, who was born at Chester Zoo in 2004, was missing part of his trunk?

It's actually a fairly common injury for zoo elephants (relatively speaking), getting them caught in doors or gates. Just off the top of my head, Tunga, Nekhana at North Carolina, Kamala at Smithsonian, along with Sanuk at Artis and one of the young bulls at Sydney (those last two are unconfirmed, but I've heard through the grape vine it was gate related).
Maybe she’s inside? That enclosure is not big at all.I couldn't help but wonder where was Sanuk
There’s a thread on this that lists all calves that have survived and succumbed to the virus:How many Elephants have survived EEHV?
The ones I know of are
Jade St Louis Zoo (F)
Maliha St Louis Zoo (F)
Scott Whipsnade Zoo (M)
Tarli Woburn Safari Park (F)
Zinda Dublin Zoo (F)
Indali at Chester Zoo (F)
If there are any I have missed can someone please let me know?
Sanuk is indeed not very visible on the video, but if you watch carefully you can see her behind the other elephants.I couldn't help but wonder where was Sanuk
Sanuk is there.I couldn't help but wonder where was Sanuk
I think Yindee isn't pregnant. When Nikolai left Amsterdam, the zoo said he was moving because he didn't show enough breeding behavior, so maybe he wasn't interested in Yindee or I didn't know why. As for Thong Tai, she will probably no longer have offspring if they follows the new rules that cows can have a calf under 25 years of age.Maybe she’s inside? That enclosure is not big at all.
is Yindee pregnant if anyone knows? I think Thong Tai can have a calf or two before she is called off the SSP breeding list.
I wrote the same thing at the same time.Sanuk is indeed not very visible on the video, but if you watch carefully you can see her behind the other elephants.
On this video, at the same moment, you can see her very well: DPG Media Privacy Gate
Chamundi is a behavioural non-breeder so I doubt Dublin wants him and Emmett will probably stay at Blackpool for a while as there are 3 cows he can breed with there. Mekong is a maybe, it depends on whether Thisiam proves himself as a breeding bull at Rapperswil. Aung Bo is a good choice, Chester needs to send him out in the next couple years anyway since his daughter Indali will be of breeding age soon. After Yasmin, Anak, and their sons Kabir and Sanjay head to Cincinnati possible bulls that could head to Dublin are
1.0 Mekong 1982-00-00
1.0 Emmett (Indy x Romani) 1991-07-10
1.0 Chamundi (Ganesha x Yashoda) 1992-05-25
1.0 Aung Bo (Naing Thein x Khaing Lwin Htoo) 2001-07-16

It is indeed impossible (or atleast highly unlikely) for Chester to bring in some of Dublin's cows. First of all, Dublin is already sending away two of their cows and I don't think they wish to send anymore for atleast a couple more years. Secondly, merging two completely unrelated matriarchal herds is 100% going to lead to issues within the herd. I'm certain Chester will bring in a new bull eventually but I highly doubt they will bring in any more cows. As long as Indali and Riva survive to adulthood, Chester's herd is still in good shape with 3 closely related breeding cows. It’s not impossible that Chester will become home to some of Dublin’s Cowes in the future. I think Chester welcoming a new Bull and Cowes to join Sundara,Indali and Riva would be amazing. I think that Sundara and her Daughters should live their entire lives at Chester as not only are they a natural born Family but they could carry on the Hi-Way Family.
