We were there Sunday and saw his empty exhibit. The steel mesh on the roof looked much more substantial than before.

I have no inside information, but that sounds like the plan based on the press release.

The zoo has announced that breeding the lions is the goal. The new exhibit is nearing completion and is more than adequate for housing 4 lions and their offspring. I’m planning on visiting soon after the new exhibit opens in May.

I was there a couple of weeks ago. It looks like there are some hot/cool rocks near a viewing window and across the path seems to be a small exhibit, possibly for hoofed stock (gazelles?).
I, for one, am looking forward to the exhibit. The brief clips look pretty nice so far.
The zoo announced on social media that an unspecified animal is pregnant, and will reveal who it is on Mother's Day.

Funnily enough, the male orang who left Audubon for Denver in 2017 only took a few months to father young, too!

I miss Barani. He was an exceptional orangutan. The only problem he had at Audubon Zoo was that after his first offspring(Menari) was born, he and the mother (Feliz) began to despise each other and had to be separated from then on. I hope he still gets along with his new mate in Denver.
