Audubon Zoo Audubon Zoo News

From the zoo's YouTube channel.

The new male lion, Arnold, arrived in NOLA from Wildlife Safari, in Winston, Oregon. He's been in residence since February, and the zoo expects to open the exhibit in early May.

If you have Facebook, the zoo has posted a video preview of the new lion exhibit:

I hope to also be able to report on the exhibit shortly after opening.
I was there a couple of weeks ago. It looks like there are some hot/cool rocks near a viewing window and across the path seems to be a small exhibit, possibly for hoofed stock (gazelles?).

Funnily enough, the male orang who left Audubon for Denver in 2017 only took a few months to father young, too!
I miss Barani. He was an exceptional orangutan. The only problem he had at Audubon Zoo was that after his first offspring(Menari) was born, he and the mother (Feliz) began to despise each other and had to be separated from then on. I hope he still gets along with his new mate in Denver.
