Does anyone know whether the Audubon Zoo still has their vampire bats? I haven't seen any references to them in the past 2 years or so.

I think that they were removed from their new nocturnal house shortly after it opened. They shut down the nocturnal house and remodeled it shortly after it opened.

Interesting; any idea why they did that?

The vampire bats were taken off exhibit when the nocturnal house underwent renovation. The particular colony they had had a lot of health issues ever since acquisition and during this time they all passed. Their enclosure space was converted and is now inhabited by chinchillas.

Two North American black bear cubs have arrived:

Audubon Zoo Welcomes 2 New Bear Cubs - Biz New Orleans

The two sisters were rescued by Alaska Department of Fish and Game after they were found alone in a den outside Anchorage.

The two black bear cubs will make their new home in Audubon Zoo’s Louisiana Swamp exhibit where they will join Sassafras, a young Louisiana black bear cub found orphaned in North Louisiana earlier this year.
