A wonderful idea!
Thank you. It was important to me that @Swanson02’s idea was followed up on (even if it did take a while to get back to him with this).

Are you thinking of putting one together?.It would be interesting to see an African Painted Dog and a Capybara one.

I'm not too sure, I'm still new to this site and I'm a bit worried I won't be able to make it as fancy as the other ones.
Yeah I might do it at some stage. I also might do the Manned Wolf.Don’t feel discouraged. Some population lists have been easy to do due to having online studbooks; while others have taken months of research. There’s no need to rush it, though I’d urge new population thread authors to undertake only one at a time to avoid putting multiple species on hold that never get completed.
How about choosing a species and beginning a research thread? Tell us what you know versus what you need to know, and people can respond with info they have. Whatever’s missing, email the zoo.

Oh whoops I didn't see that it was already being worked on. Those will all be interesting to read. Isn't there already a Platypus one tho?Maned wolf is being worked on by one of the existing population thread authors sorry.
These are the species that are taken:
Hamadryas baboon: @Zoofan15
Pinnipeds: @Zoofan15
Maned wolf: @akasha
Fennec fox: @akasha
Przewalski’s horse: @akasha
Small cats: @WhistlingKite24
Platypus: @WhistlingKite24
Plains zebra: @Jambo
Feel free to choose either African wild dog or Capybara, but I’ll ask that prospective population thread authors don’t lock out more than one species at a time, as if they don’t end up doing it, they’ve blocked others from doing it during that period.
I found a Platypus captive population thread on the main board, but it's an old one so things might have changed now.No problem. It’s easy to miss things when you’re new to ZooChat.
No, there’s not currently a Platypus population thread, but once @WhistlingKite24 has published it, he’ll post the link on this thread as we’ve done with all the others.
You can read further rules on how we manage our population threads on Post #44 (the fourth post down) of this page.

This is the one I found Platypuses in CaptivityThere’s this thread, but it merely lists the holders: What zoos have the captive platypus population?
Our population threads detail individuals, so you can expect something a little more detailed.
Updating Population Lists
Following a discussion in the North American forums, the Australasian population thread authors have had a discussion on how we want to maintain our population threads going forward.
This is what we’ve decided:
A new population list will be posted by the population thread author in January if they feel there’s been sufficient updates that year to warrant one. Alternatively, they may elect to post one throughout the year as a result of significant changes to the population (though this is unlikely).
Births, deaths and transfers will be posted in the population thread by the author of that thread.
Discussion is welcome, but posters are asked to keep the discussion relevant to the thread.
@Zoofan15 @WhistlingKite24 @akasha @Patrick Keegan @Abbey
Will hopefully get up the Zebra population list in the new year. It’s pretty much complete (bar Monarto) but we’ll just have to live with that.
I’ll then potentially look next into either African Wild Dogs or Short Clawed Otters (is anyone doing them atm?).
