More details from their facebook page: the calf, who is female, was born on December 21 and has been named Nollaig (Irish for Christmas). She is the second calf for parents Tombo and Surali.

0.1 crowned lemur named Amber (after a forest in Madagascar where crowned lemurs are found) born last year. Unfortunately, she was rejected by her mother, so she has to be hand-reared.

A pair of blue-throated macaws has arrived from Landau and Mulhouse. I remember the zoo had previously kept this species for a while until 5 or 6 years ago, so its great that they've come back.

The zoo is preparing to reopen next week. Plus, another bongo calf was born before Easter Sunday, a male named Pasaka (meaning 'Easter' in Swahili).

Based on the videos they shared on their facebook page last year (the latest being from June), their single, elderly male, Elmer seems to be still alive and off view from the public, but things might have changed since then. I'm hoping to do a day trip to Belfast this summer, so I could ask a keeper when I'm up there.

Apparently so, because I remember when they had the tapirs up on their website, they said that Elmer was paired with Gladys (the female) until 2018.
