Best Big Cat Enclosure in the UK

could you pm me some info please zoogiraffe
No because it would be wrong because the collections that have closed have gone so whats gone is gone,as for the ones still open they will remain nameless but quite afew of us will have visited.

I havent been to the Isle Of Wight Zoo but i have seen pics of the new Tiger enclosures and the look amazing!
I cant wait to see them,
Regards

You wont be let down, by far one of the best designed and planted enclosures i have ever seen. The integrated rock work and Indian temple is amazing to the eye. Its such a shame that the rest of the zoo is such a shamble but im glad they are slowly improving.

Do people really think the Tiger enclosures at IOW are that good? I didn't think they were all that. One enclosure has more water than land in it, and the water doesn't look too pretty. I wasn't very impressed when I went. Maybe it's just me thought, lol, because the enclosures are admittedly an amazing improvement on some of the other enclosures.

I hope to visit Howletts on Thursday PrimateKid i cant wait!
Whipsnades Lion enclosure is brilliant and the view from the oryx enclosure is breathtaking.

It is a fantastic zoo hope you enjoy it :D
Yes the lion enclosure was brilliant when i last went (about 2 years ago) Is Spike still the Head of the pride there?

I visited a few weeks ago the pride consists of Spike,Kachanga and Mashaka Lila the original three from West Midlands and then Spike and Mashaka Lilas cubs Kia (f) and the males Neo, Toto and Katu. Im pretty sure these males are all castrated as there are 7 lions with Only Spike showing a mane and this isnt uncommon at all in the Uk with Lion Prides.
Hope this helps.

Besides the HWP tiger enclosure, i do like the look of the lion exhibit at Kessingland, again a simple area, but with some outstanding viewing facilities

i suppose banham's leopard exhibit better be for being a rarely seen open topped leopard enclosure (though i can not comment further as i haven't seen it, just thought it would be worth mentioning

Personnaly i`m surprised that both Banhams Leopard and Tiger enclosure haven`t been mentioned before as they are both pretty good.

I haven't seen the Leopard enclosure at Banham but I agree the Tiger enclosure is very good and very extensive for a relatively small Zoo. I would probably rate it as the best I have seen....

I will prob get a bashing for this no doubt...but the open fronted cat pens at dartmoor for tiger and jaguar were fantastic exhibits, by todays standards though a little small.

The Jaguar enclosure is nice (if a little unsafe) and the larger, currently vacant, Tiger enclosure - Tiger Mountain - is good, but Tiger Rock is too small. They are some reasonable enclosures, but certainly not the best in my opinion.

I agree with you Jacks Zoo when i went to Dartmoor in 2007 i was expecting really dissapointing enclosures from what i had read on the CAPS website but i thought the Dartmoor Jag enclosure was fantastic! aswell as Tiger mountain shame its not safe at the moment for them.

Before reading the CAPS website you should realise that it actually has a silent R between the C and the A as thats about all the have to say.
