Unfortunately, there have been a couple of complaints about the threads I have been creating causing cluttering in the forum and I have been told by the moderators I am only allowed to make 1 or 2 threads a week or my ability to create threads will be taken away from me. I have tried to argue that people might lose interest if it is once a week and that it would take ages to finish. For example the number of threads done so far would take half a year. I also pointed out only 8 threads are open at a time and that yesterday for example only 10% of threads were Best UK ones. Unfortunately I was told I haven't got enough posts to be allowed to create threads that often like in the ZooChat Cup and that there was no option to move it to a separate forum.
I had a private discussion with you where I expressed the concerns the moderators had about the volume of new threads / polls you are creating and suggested that you wind it back a bit to avoid flooding the forums and new posts searches.
You then proceeded to argue the point, refusing to consider that there is a point of view other than yours which is valid here.
You have now taken your argument public - presumably to try and gain popular support for your initiative with the intention of forcing me to change my mind and allow you to continue with your high volume of threads and polls.
You have then used several positive responses from other members to try and justify your position to me again in private - completely ignoring the opinions of several other members who agree with the moderator view that it is a bit overdone and is cluttering the forum.
To say that I am not impressed with your approach to this would be an understatement.
I'm extremely disappointed in this decision because I thought these threads were a good addition to ZooChat and generated good discussion with over 100 members taking part in the polls.
To be clear: at no point have we indicated that the threads you are creating are problematic from a content perspective and we do agree that they have generated good discussion. The only concern we have is with the volume of new threads created and have suggested that one or two threads per week is more appropriate.
However, unfortunately the moderators have put a stop to this and in my opinion ruined the format which will be extremely slow paced now.
We have not put a stop to anything - we have simply asked you to slow down with the rate at which you create new threads or polls.
Given these threads are completely independent of each other, there is no "format" to be ruined. If indeed, you were attempting to run some kind of broader competition (say, along the lines of the ZooChat Cup), then this is the first we're hearing of this - you have not consulted with the moderators about your intentions, nor stopped to consider the impact your actions might have on other users of this site.
At the end of the day, this is not "BritishZooFanChat" - this site is not about you and your threads, it is a site for all zoo and animal conservation enthusiasts from all over the world and my job as the administrator is to ensure that the site provides a platform for all members - not just you.
Nothing we are asking you to do is preventing you from continuing. There is a middle ground here which will give everyone what they need. I have decided that one or two new threads/poll per week is appropriate to find that balance.
