That was summer school though wasn't it?;)

Coincidentally, i visited Jersey Zoo 3 times in 5 days back in 2005...

@zoogiraffe: are you serious with those attendance numbers? 36 times to the zoo in 2006? I don't know whether to shake my head in disbelief or congratulate you. Perhaps you should just hide out in an enclosure and live there...

Yep quite serious for part of the year that i went 36 times i was living in Chester and it just made sense to pop up for a couple of hours on Saturday and Sunday if i had nothing else to do,can thing of thins a lot less constructive to do with my time but far prefer to visit a Zoo if theirs nothing else i need to do.

Don't know if this has already been posted but apparently Tejas the lion cub is due to move to France today, and it is being filmed for 'Zoo Days'. The article also mentions that the butterfly house will be completed in the summer.

Chester Zoo carries out its furry census - Liverpool Echo.co.uk

I knew he was scheduled to leave sometime soon...

Does anyone know what the zoo and facilities are like in France?

Re: Butterfly House, the house must be going up extremely quickly then, I thought it was odd that Chester were already advertising for butterfly keepers...

It's just a polycarbonate greenhouse - it won't need complicated foundations or a team of master builders. I'll bet they are already growing the plants in another greenhouse and that they have ordered their first butterflies in time for Easter.

Quick update the new bridge has now reached to the old deadend pathway, the Cheetah enclosure should be done by the end of April, the Butterfly house should also be complete about the same time but not sure personnely that it will be.

zoogiraffe, you seem to be in the know about a lot of Chester Zoo stuff, so do you know what the Cheetah exhibit will look like? Will it have a new house or will they be part of the large one for camels?

All I know is that there will be the bridge going over the exhibit. When i visited a couple of weeks ago, some people were placing metal poles in the ground and a dirt mound had been dug-out.

Have they opened up the spoted dear enclsure aswell? As it looks like they have taken the fence down, to create a larger exhibit. If so will they use the old dear house as it will prob be more suited for cheetah's?

All i know is that it will be i believe 2 enclosures 1 for the males and 1 for the females as for the house no idea,as for the dirt mound it has grown since my last visit so would think its the start of landscaping for the Cheetahs.

Forgot to mention the Male Bornean Orang is out of Quartine and hes already been put in with one the females with whom he was mating after only 2 hours of been introduced.
