Bioparc Valencia Bioparc Valencia News

Hi Pertinax,
Do you know specifically why the silverback was separated from the group with newborn?

Was the zoo just being cautious?

I didn't know that he had been. He appeared to be present when it was born.

Yesterday all 9 (1,2,6) are in Valencia. Well, not all were viewed, but no other news/ data do for thinking any other supposition.
The original group was 2,2. But 1 male was moved (I don't know where).

Thanks for the answer. That's a pretty good group now.

Do you know roughly when the 2nd male was moved? He may have gone to Edinburgh possibly. Their first male came from 'Spain'( not sure from where though) but he has since died. I am not sure if he has been replaced yet. But the Valencia male might fit the bill for either original or a replacement- or gone somewhere else!

I pretty sure that all the "founder" group 2,2 came to Valencia from different german zoos.

I found the information.:D
1(Rafiki), 2 (Abuja, and Kianja) came from Hannover, and other male (presumably the one who leaves Valencia later) from Port Lympne

Two Drill females born in Valencia, were moved to Hannover.
From a local newspaper: "Ebonji and Tsumba are two sisters who were born in the Bioparc in 2010 and 2014, respectively, within a reproductive group formed by another female and by its parents, Rafiki, who was born precisely in Hannover, and Abuja, who was born in Kent (United Kingdom) )."
The baby gorilla has 3 months now.

An extension to the park, but with no animals featured

Well, this isn't a extension for the zoo. It's other area managed by the enterprise who is owner to Bioparc. In the master plan -actually not 100% executed yet- that area must be a "Attractions park". But mostly aquatic attractions. The area for to extend the zoo it self, are behind the park.
