Bird Paradise Bird Paradise news 2024

Mountain Peacock-pheasants have been added to Lory Loft

the former Lesser BoP cage has alot of its vegetation trimmed down, leaving alot of bare ground, possibly for a more terrestrial inhabitant

There is a Western Crowned Pigeon in the former Lesser BoP cage.

Quick edit: For some reason the King BoP signboard is gone from its current habitat

Anyone knows what happened to the King BoP? There are 3 pheasants in the cage, but I don’t know which species.

The Crowned Pigeon has been in there for quite a while if I'm not mistaken.

The pheasants might be the Vietnam Pheasants since they live together with the Twelve-Wired BoP? Our sole male recently moved into the King's aviary so I'm assuming it's them but I'll have to double check to confirm.

Still currently unsure of the whereabouts of the King as well, probably have to ask any of the keepers on their location

I don’t think the crowned pigeon was there when the green magpie occupied the cage. Perhaps it was from the King BoP cage?

Yeah, it was my guess as well. They superficially look like the Vietnamese pheasants but they barely moved and the supposedly male individual was hiding behind the bushes, so I’m not 100% sure.

The crowned pigeon moved in from October 2024 onwards.

Oh dear, do you know when and why? I worked quite extensively with him back in Reptopia, we named him Diego (his partner Camilla, before a sponsor changed her name to Doce).

This is pretty sad news to me :(

Was told by a contact that he was found dead overnight, similar to Doce back in Reptopia

is the Pinon's Imperial Pigeon still in SOTF?

I believe so.

Some small updates from Winged Sactuary:

The Rufous Hornbill has been moved to the aviary that housed the Trumpeter Hornbills.

The Trumpeter Hornbills have moved to the aviary that housed the Hooded Vultures. The Vultures are now off show.

The former Rufous Hornbill aviary will house Black-casqued Hornbills.

The Malay Crested Firebacks have been moved from the White-crowned Hornbill aviary to the Bali Myna aviary.

The King BoP sign has been placed back at its original aviary. The BoP was moved out temporarily to fix a rodent problem in the aviary.

If I heard correctly, the former Lesser BoP aviary is being remodeled to house the Bald Ibises from Heart of Africa.
