Bird Paradise Bird Paradise news 2025

Are the Mindanao Lorikeets still in the Negros Bleeding-heart cage?

I spotted 5 psittacines species* in the cage but couldn’t find the Mindanao Lorikeets. There is also a pheasant inside the cage that I can’t identify.

*Scaly-breasted Lorikeet; Macleay’s Fig Parrot; Stella’s Lorikeet; Marigold Lorikeet; Goldie’s Lorikeet

Recently I've been seeing that one of the Wattled Cranes has always been resting by the pool, but from the looks of it they seem to have produced an egg of their own
Did you see anything in the saddlebills'? It was reported that an egg was laid about 1.5 months ago. If it was fertile, it should have hatched by now, though their previous egg was infertile too.

When I passed by them earlier, mom is still nesting her 2 eggs (she stood up for a moment and there's 2 there). Nothing much about them, she's just on the lookout as always whenever someone looks down at her

Major-ish updates

1. Mysterious papua is stripped of Iris Lorikeets and Lesser Birds-of-paradise I've been hearing they are all sent to the Breeding and Research centre

2. All Hyacinth Macaws at Crimson wetlands have been put into holding

3. Heart of Africa now only have 5 Northern Carmine bee-eaters as many have faired terribly during the rainy season.

I'm assuming this is off-show? Does that mean there are no Lesser BOPs on show currently? As a side note do any of the Mandai parks ever allow tours around off-show areas or is it a similar situation to, say, Berlin?

The 3 male Lesser BoPs have been off show for quite a while, few months back if I'm not mistaken. They were brought back during their breeding season as apparently they don't really breed well in open aviaries.

Mandai does with their special tours, for BP's case they bring you to their Breeding and Research Centre if I'm not mistaken. From what I asked the last time apparently you could spot them the Lesser BoPs there too.

The Kagu in the Pink Pigeon aviary is the chick. The parents won't be separated since they are a mated pair.

Yellow Cardinal and Blue-winged Leafbird are supposedly still in the collection. Probably off show to encourage breeding.
