Birmingham Zoo (Alabama) Birmingham Zoo News

Definitely curious to see how this addition improves this zoo. Hopefully it can build on the momentum of Trails of Africa and surely it will be a glorious day to see the darkest, least naturalistic orangutan exhibit in the country closed.

The only fit would be Alabama Wilds (and that is stretching it). I don't get cutting so much from Master plans like Hoofstock for Trails or Sun Bears from Asian Forest just to add superfluous Black Bears, Coyotes, and a Jaguar.

I'm no veterinarian oncologist but what is the prognosis of cancer in Tigers? And what Tigers are there in AZA worse case scenario to replace Kumar? Asian Forest will be opening next year and it is expected to have 3-5 tigers. Are there even that many for that to be realistic?

An eight-year-old female generic giraffe, "Keyara", has left the zoo for another AZA-accredited facility, leaving the zoo with 1.1 generic giraffes.
