Hi! I'm haz_cat (I'm new), and I want to ask a question:
Which animals are pregnant, and how many new arrivals will we see this year?
I currently know only that Ema the Black Rhino is expecting after mating with Mugadi.

I also know that Asha and Asoka (the asiatic lions) will not be breeding again.

I would personally like to see Patna and Baachti (Indian Rhinos), the Okapi, the Phillipine Crocodiles and Sumatran Tigers (Fabi and Kirana- Kepala and Kirana cannot breed as they are related) Breeding.
Start Posting.

The Indian Rhinos are too young to breed, the zoo is waiting for a male okapi and there are no plans to breed from the crocodiles until the reptile department has room to care for the young.

The Spotted Deer are already breeding. A giraffe birth may take place later in the year.

Many birds are sitting on eggs at the moment.

Thanks- any more?

I would personally like to see ... Sumatran Tigers (Fabi and Kirana- Kepala and Kirana cannot breed as they are related) Breeding.

I'm confused about the tiger situation - I thought there was a female and they'd got a new male - did they have 2 and now they've got 3?

Kepala was sent to Dublin zoo to pair up with their female/s there. Fabi was brought in as a partner for Kirana

Is it not worth in the long run swapping Mbuti for another male?

Whoa- hang on, you're saying Kepala's gone? Is it just on loan or will it be permanent? I only went a few weeks ago and I'm sure he was there!

As far as i know Kepala was related to Kirana so had to be moved out to Dublin. And as both Karina and Fabi are of similar age they will be Chester's breeding pair for quite a few years.

This is a good example for really bad planning, why did Chester move Kirana in if she was related to their male - who himself had just arrived a year or 2 earlier?? They should have better chosen another female, then Kepala could have stayed and a needless, stressful move had been avoided.

They are 3.1 Red Bird of Paradise.

Another female is expected.

One is from Al Wabra and one from a collection I cannot remember. I don't know where this bird is from.

.

That may not be the case from what ive heard in last few days, cant really say to much but dont be surprised if they breed again probably not this year but a posibility in the future

Fine, then keep your mouth shut!!

Some of us are quite well connected at certain zoos put can really say much as where not technically supposed to know and also can affect the animal coming to the zoo etc even happening.

Yes but some us don`t go broadcasting exactly where our connections are to help build a bridge of trust between us and them!!!!!!!!!

No i`m not implying that, but i am aware that every thread on here about Chester Zoo is been watched by some very senior people within the zoo and some of the posters are held in very low regard by the staff, for some of the stuff that is been posted on here by them i will not name any of them on here but i have been asked if i know any of them!!As for my connections they are in more place than i care to think about but if i`m told not to post i don`t as it could cause more trouble than its worth!!!!
