Is that the Indian sarus crane, that used to live near where the cassowaries are now?

I think that you should get some curassows to add to your galliformes collection. Are there any plans for curassows?

Think the other zoo has all the curassows now was a little to cold for them at blackbrook

From what i can remember... we have one down what we call (the old drive) that was brought in from a breeder, it was hand reared and has gone a little crazy

yes indian we have the australian on show now. dont really know y we dont have currassows hillside had the black, bareface and blue knobbed

pelicans will be from a breeder,
Can you try and find out who ???
Never thought a breeder had pelicans, PM if you wish ??

I'm going on Tuesday, does anyone know if they still keep Black-necked Cranes there?

I don't imagine why they wouldn't keep Black necked cranes, as they've been there since I first visited in 2001.

Take lots of pictures and tell us lots of stuff!!!

I have a list of 36 species I hope to photograph, these are things I've never seen before, or which I have pictures of from previous years which are not all that good. It will be my first visit, I just hope I am able to see everything on my list. If I get to see the Black-necked Cranes and the Sandhill Cranes I will have seen all but 2 of the world's crane species. After bovines, cranes are my second favourite group of animals.

Cranes are cool...

Which other two species haven't you seen? ( my guess-Siberian White and.....?)

I've seen sibearean white. If you're looking for hooded cranes, I suggest Par Paradisio, they have lots of Cranes. Also walsrode.

If it's the whooping, then you'll have to go to the U.S I'm Afraid ( No ofence U.S guys!!)

What about pelicans? Blackbrook houses the Pink backed, white, dalmation, Australian, Brown and American white. Try to photograph the American white and the Australian, as I think that they are the only ones in the UK.

What other species are on your list?

I've seen Hooded Cranes, my missing species are Siberian and Whooping. The American Pelicans are on my list, I did not know about the Australian but I've never seen them either. Longleat used to have a Spot-billed Pelican, I don't know if it's still there.

The others are
Lesser Adjutant Stork (though I think you said it's no longer there - I did see Greater Adjutants at Chester in the 60s. I only just discovered this, the zoo described them as Marabou Storks, with the origin being given as India. A check on a photo proved their true identity.)

Hadada Ibis
American White Ibis (see at Bristol in the 70s but my sildes are no good)

Geese, Thick-billed Brean; Greater Snow; Dusky Canada; Vancouver Canada; Great Basin Canada; Russian Brent; Kelp; Black Spur-winged

Duck, Hawaiian (I only have photos of ducklings); American Black; New Zealand Scaup; Faroes Eider; Pacific Eider; King Eider; Spectacled Eider (the last two I have only photos of males); Red-breastred Merganser, Goosander; Argentine Ruddy Duck

Crane, Australian Sarus; Black-necked; Florida Sandhill; Greater Sandhill

Cape Thick-knee

Wattled Jacana

Turaco, Buffons's; Purple-crested

Tortoise, Bell's Hinge-backed (I never get a good shot of these)

Golden Spiny Mouse; Zebra Mouse; Bobak Marmot

Zigzag Ray and Port Jackson Shark

Blackbrook no longer keeps Wattled jacana, zig zag ray, Port jackson shark and I'm not sure whether it keeps the turacos or some of the ducks. Have you checked ISIS for this? Blackbrook do not update with ISIS regularly.

To see sibearean cranes visit parc Paradisio. I don't know whether Longleat still has the spot billed pelican. It was not shown in any of the guides or on the show.

ok hornbill blackbrook has been open for around 15 years and only new news is that the penguin exzibit is being started next week and torrent duck after that.

you maybe lucky enough to get the bobak marmot but its gone quite shy since its partner died.
