The Blackbrook website says they are having the official opening of the penguin enclosure this Saturday (Easter weekend) with Signal Radio there. (Website looks really good now.)
Is anyone thinking of going?:)

the opening was last weekend
there is hope for king penguins, macaroni and others i cant remember the mound in the middle of the walkway is meant to be for black footed will find out turaco species

I was there today i was very impressed with the new penguin enclosure, its totally different from the rest of the park. Currently the underwater viewing pool is empty beacause apparently there was some leakage around the windows but it should be fill in the next few weeks.

There was 9 Humboldt’s, 5 males and 4 females from cologne. A keeper told me there was supposed to be another female but when it came to catching them up she was sat on an egg, so they left her. They eventually hope to have around 30 penguins in there but it could hold more, and the new enclosure mabye home to black footed when its completed - which currently just seems to be a big mound of mud!!

Have you got red river hogs yet?

If not, then has the exhibit been started, and when will it be finished with the animals moving in?

I've just been looking at the stock list; is there an updated version?

Where are the great Curassows kept?
Any other curassows planned to join the collection?

Where are the giant wood rails kept?

Is the great blue turaco back on show yet?
Are all the other turacos still at the park, and on-show?

Has the bronze tailed peacock pheasant got his lady friend yet?

Have the hogs arrived yet?
if not, has their exhibit been completed?

Do you still have two species of sarus crane (Indian, and Australian) or just one?

I read that you were having problems with your signage;is this still the case?
Would you like me to give you some photographs for the signs?

I'll be coming to Blackbrook on Wednesday or Thursday; we're just looking at the weather, and finding out which of these two days is best!

I vistited blackbrook yesterday and there seems to be lots more pheasents than 2 weeks ago. Have you had a delivery of them or have you bred them yourselves?

What new species were there?

Blackbrook works very closely with the WPA (World pheasant association), and as they have the experienced bird keepers to look after some of the more specialist species, Bronze tailed peacock pheasant, they receive many rare species.

Do they have Malayan Peacock pheasants yet?

we did hsve new pheasants but as far as i know it was only copper pheasants and the female bronze tail.
i will be there if you come on thursday

Yes we are definitely coming on thursday (Fodders too!) So maybe see you there....

Are the attendance figure picking up yet? I would Imagine that the Penguins may have worked their magic.... lol

Are there any plans to Complete the Peacock pheasant collection and get Malayan peacock pheasants (Borneans aren't really an option at the moment)???
