Have just got back from a very different visit to Blackbrook Zoo,the collection closed today at 5.00 pm as normal and then re-opened its doors at 6:30pm until 10pm,myself and bongorob took the chance to visit after a busy day of zoo visiting at Chester.First up the staff where their normal extremely helpfull selves that any regular visitor to the place will already know,iy was very interesting to see birds like the waterfowl, that are normall a hive of activity bedding down for the night, while things like the Ibis and Cranes where very much taking the chance to get some last minute feeding in before sunset, the biggest difference was the chance to see the various owls within the park, very much active and making themselves heard about the place.I have to say that anybody that knows the park will not be surprised to hear that while the sun was not set the place was still warm enough to be walking round in a t-shirt,but as soon as the sun had set the temperature dropped very quickly.I very much hope at somepoint in the future they do this again as it was, very nice to see the place in a very different light setting and seeing activity from many of the animals that you just wouldn't see ina normal zoo visit.
