That explains the discussions about him moving back and establishing a pride there vs establishing it at Whipsnade first
Sadly, Wallace the African lion will not be joining Khari and Alyona in the renovated enclosure as he died in May 2022, aged 16 due to 'age related health conditions. Khari, who has been living at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo will now be head of the group and a new pride will be created around him.
A suggestion, if anybody from Blackpool Zoo is reading this?
Name one of Khari's male cubs (if he has any at some point) Wallace - because there must always be a Wallace at Blackpool Zoo. (ASOIAF/Game of Thrones reference).

Blackpool could be one of the first towns in the world to become a Sustainable Palm Oil Community, thanks to a campaign spearheaded by Blackpool Zoo’s Education, Conservation and Research team.
So far, Chester is the only city in the world to have achieved this accolade following the hugely successful campaign launched by Chester Zoo in 2017 and Blackpool is in the running to become the second town to demonstrate such commendable commitment to animal conservation.
Unsustainable palm oil production has seen vast areas of rainforests cleared to make way for palm oil trees in places such as Borneo, Sumatra, the Philippines, Nigeria and South America, destroying the homes of animals including orangutans, elephants, tigers and birds.

Chester Zoo and Paignton Zoo did the same thing for their cities. Hopefully this catches on with other zoos and their cities, even beyond the United Kingdom. These sustainable palm oil initiatives remind me a lot of Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program.

Worth noting, Blackpool only have 1.1 Hartmann's zebra now, the breeding female died in 2022 leaving the breeding male and daughter.

Are any other big cats or any type of cat announced to be joining them? Or just Amur tigers and African lions

Think their post was more meaning they would be announcing the individuals joining them. i,e the Male Tiger to join their returning female, and the female lions to join their rejoining male, rather than any new species.

Update on the return of Blackpool's big cats - Khari the male lion is set to return to Blackpool in May, his mane has fallen out due to the implant, females are expected to arrive with him or in due to course to his return. Alyona the female tiger is also set to return.

Yup Khari returned to Blackpool last Tuesday.
Guessed he must have already got back ok or they wouldn't update if transfer had gone wrong, was hoping someone would be within roaring distance and might have heard him
