-New in the Rotterdam Zoo: a few
Pseudacanthicus leopardus pleco's, a few behind the scenes and a few in the tank of the dwarf caiman in the Oceanium. Behind the scenes there's now also a school of
Xiphophorus meyeri, small fish that have gone extinct in the wild.
-Birth of a Vietnamese pond turtle
-Birth of seven gila monsters, the only to have hatched in all of Europe, North America and Asia in 2022. With a total population of 17 gila's we have the largest collection of all zoos.
-A Henkel's leaf-tailed gecko has hatched behind the scenes.
-Over the course of 2022 the last of the blue-and-yellow macaws, scarlet macaws and green-winged macaws left the zoo. They previously participated in the bird show. Only one military macaw remains after most of those left as well.
-Sumatran tiger Emas has left to Frankfurt
-The short-snouted seahorses the Rotterdam Zoo earlier took in after they beached during several storms, have been reintroduced to the Oosterschelde delta.
-Death of the (young) male greater kudu. The Zoo is currently contemplating what to do with this species, they keep getting into trouble with the giraffes.
-Temporarily no guinea pigs in the zoo after the death of the last individual (a domesticated one)
-One of this vicuña's that was born this year passed away unexpectedly.
-Departure of both the 1.1 tufted deer and the 0.1 red panda in the old enclosure. 0.2 red panda's from Ústí nad Labem are supposed to move in pretty soon
-Birth of a Sulawesi crested macaque
