Busira gave birth at Planckendael on January 1st, her second baby after having Sanza in 2017. The bonobo group at Planckendael now counts 21 individuals, one of the largest in Europe.
So this baby was born on the same day as Wakati?

Well, I suppose this is now the largest in the world. The bonobo group at Planckendael now counts 21 individuals, one of the largest in Europe.

If Planckendael has done a great job with the enlargement of the indoor exhibit I regret there is only one outdoor and far too small in my opinion. I know @KevinB that you don't agree totally but come to see la Vallée des Singes next to me and you will understand why I think so(8.000 + 3.000 m2 with plenty of trees and bush is better than 2.000 m2 with not so much foliage).
@KevinB Must be Frankfurt or Stuttgart but these two places have the same problems of space.
Well, it's not easy but France can be visited without speaking French. Of course, some zoochatters friendly with France could help for tips, anyway when the covid situation will be better![]()
No, Busira gave birth on January 1st, 2022, while Wakati was born on New Year's Day 2021 to Nayembi. So they had a New Year's bonobo baby for the second year in a row. According to the clip this baby is probably also a female. Her name will start with the letter X when it is chosen.
I'm sorry for any potential unclarities, I should perhaps have spent a minute more making and included some more information in my previous post to prevent those.
I have the Planckendael group noted as follows:
14 Females: Hortense; Banya; Binti; Djanoa; Busira; Kianga; Nayoki; Bina; Nila; Sanza; Balina; Unabii; Wakati; and the baby born 1 Jan 22 (are they going with the name 'Xolani' if its confirmed as female?)
8 Males: Vifijo; Zamba; Habari; Nayembi; Mokonzi; Kikongo; Moko; Vyombo
Total: 22
If there are only 21 can someone please let me know who it is that has gone and what happened to them? Thanks (Happy New Year, everyone!)
The baby is indeed confirmed as a female, and her name is Xolani.and the baby born 1 Jan 22 (are they going with the name 'Xolani' if its confirmed as female?)
Such sad news.Unfortunately female FIMI (*in Leipzig 2008, KUNO x YASA) died under birth in Stuttgart on february 9th. Also the baby did not survive.
