Her daughter Xekele died due to a severe cold.(sometime between November 30 and December 6 - i have no exact date) They did not gave an official statement about this, you can just find the information that she died in the last edition of ZGF Gorilla.

Dear Snobel,

Do you know which male sired XEKELE? I think the question of parternity in Frankfurt is very difficult to answer, because all adult males are brothers or half-siblings (sons of LUDWIG).

PANGI (*in Frankfurt in 2009 to LUDWIG and KUTU) gave birth to her first baby in Apenheul recently.
Keepers have since been able to see that it is a female. She has been given the name Mayele Frans. She is named after primatologist Frans de Waal, who died earlier this year. The name Mayele comes from the Lingala language, it stands for intelligent, wise and expert.

Can someone tell which bonobo escaped out of the outside enclosure at Rhenen, a few weeks ago?

After many years I had the opprtunity to visit Frankfurt Zoo this week. Nayoki’s son (born 24/09/23) is called Dimbu, Hanna’s daughter (born 19/05/24) didn’t get a name yet.

The bonobos were divided in two groups. Due to time restrictions and unfamilarity to these bonobos assignment to the groups may be incorrect: Group 1: Natalie and sons Heri, Nyota; Kamiti; Hanna and Baby, Nayoki und Dimbu. Groupp 2: Zomi and sons Panisco, Sambo, Yango; Mixi and infants Xola, Boni; Bashira and Cheza. I couldn’t detect Ayebi, but some of space is invisble.
