Zoo Bratislava Bratislava Zoo

Group of Rufous-thighed falconets (Microhierax caerulescens) is now on show in one of the aviaries in "Bird valley" (Path in front of former DinoPark IIRC?)

Very nice species! I guess another part of confiscated birds.

A replacement for the dead white lioness Jawa has been found quickly. Next week, 7-years old white lioness Leia will arrive from zoo Dvorec.

Two young female capybaras have arrived from Prague Zoo (named Bubi and Letty). They are backstage now and they will inhabit new enclosure near pygmy hippos after winter. Source: ZOO Bratislava

Could someone please tell me if the Rufous-thighed falconets (Microhierax caerulescens) can be seen in winter? Thanks!

The sculpture depicting two dead wolves by artist Alexandra Hoferová has been placed near wolf exhibit in Carpathian Forest part of the zoo. The meaning of the sculpture is to remind people the exploitation of nature in current Slovakia (corruption is now at all time high there since 90s when mob ruled the state during Mečiarism), especially shooting of big predators (bears and wolves) that is now in practice, in direct opposition to European Union legislation.
