She's not - this Linda is only four months old.I believe she comes from the Smithsonian National Zoo.
So happy about this development! They are a nice and - admittedly also quite cute - mouse species from the region with a good conservation story worth telling and also that this small program is getting a new holder too! Hopefully, more Floridean and SE US zoos tag along in due course for this critically endangered beach mice species ....!!!On July 31st, it was announced that the zoo transferred 3 Perdido Key beach mice to The Birmingham Zoo in Alabama.
4.6K views · 424 reactions | Meet the newest (and tiniest!) members of our Zoo family: a trio of endangered Perdido Key beach mice! These tiny conservation ambassadors came to us from @brevardzoo and are already settling into their new home. They play a big role in coastal ecosystems as a keystone species, and we’re proud to be part of their conservation story. Got a formal announcement of the lemur move on socials- talked to a staff member about it when I was there on August 1st, kind of surprised it took this long for them to mention it anywhere if it wasn't really under wraps. Old lemur islands, it seems, will be used for a "new primate species to the zoo." Not to just parrot the Instagram comments but Colobus are probably a good fit.
Recently (and most excitingly), the zoo welcomed the birth of two (1.1.0) babirusa piglets to parents Meru and Piggy!

On September 26th, the zoo announced they acquired (0.3) striped skunks from another unspecified AZA facility, which are now ambassador animals. The zoo also announced their male (1.0) striped skunk named Oscar passed away earlier in 2025 due to heart failure.
6.5K views · 322 reactions | Our skunk squad has grown! We recently welcomed three new striped skunks to our Zoo crew. The trio arrived from another organization accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums as part of an Ambassador striped skunk breeding program. These three 4-month-old sisters will be joining our other two resident skunks, Dexter and DeeDee, as part of our Ambassador Animal team. As Ambassadors, our skunks will help educate guests on the importance of their species in their native habitats through special educational programs. Currently, their animal care team has started training the girls on how to enter and exit their secure carriers and walk to a moving target. We are moving at the girls’ pace as they learn new skills, but so far everyone has been motivated and curious. Our Ambassador team is working on choosing the perfect names for our new arrivals as they get to know their personalities. We will be sure to share them with you soon!
