Good news about the potential pangolin exhibit. Any word on where they came from or about the pregnancies?

I belive 4 females are pregnate and they came from a breeding facility in Florida I belive or Imported. they said they would build a completely new exhibit instead of a old one. hopefully they will be on exhibit by next summer

Mabey habitat Africa Either way it will defanitly give the zoo some recognition in the zoo community.

The Brookfield Zoo already has a long standing tradition of being a leader in American zoos. Recognition isn't something they strive for or need, but innovation is what they seek. A pangolin program in one of the country's best zoos will hopefully give more recognition to a taxa that's quickly disappearing.

I am not sure if this has been reported yet but the Aardvark house is permanently closed shame for the zoo to no longer have such a unique species
I'm so disappointed to hear this! During my first trip to Brookfield Zoo thirteen years ago, seeing the aardvarks was the moment that won me over for the zoo. I had enjoyed them so much I often tried to go on multiple visits to the exhibit over the course of a single zoo trip. The only reason I missed them last time is the pathway to the exhibit remains a little confusing to me.

What a shame. I hope they plan to bring the species back in a new capacity, since they had such success breeding them.

-The zoo is concidering getting komodo dragons
This is the most exciting BZ news I've heard in a while. I hope they pull the trigger on this.

The news of Brookfield Zoo potentially getting Komodo dragons is great news! Finally being able to see my favorite animal would be awesome!

I was just there yesterday and was thinking they would be a great addition. Hahaha.

keep in mind they are just playing with the idea but there is a very good chance they might come to one of the reptile or bird houses. the lady who I talked to said there trying to get them as a priority.

I Know the zoo has so many records like
Fist zoo in us to have pandas
first zoo to have barless exhibits
1st okapi birth in us zoo
oldest polar bear in north America captivity(Aussie)
that's just a few
I know they arnet looking for recognition but more well known they are the more visitors they get witch means more money for new exhibits I mean The state is broke they have to get the money from visitors.

Sad news. Cookie the cockatoo has passed away over the weekend :( he was the oldest living cockatoo at age 83 He will be missed. The zoo has posted a video on their youtube channel. R.I.P Cookie:(:(:(:

They say he only made cute happy noises lately. I wonder if he knew his time was running short. I have had pets suddenly get friendly and kind right before their death.

Very saddened by Cookie's death even though it was obviously coming sooner or later, but the announcement was a big blow to my day. He was an icon if the zoo's ever had one, a true ambassador.

I could not agree more. I hope a little memorial for him will be put in the reptile and bird house
