The complex is pretty large with at least 2 off show outdoor exhibits, 1 on-show outdoor exhibit, and an on-show den. They should easily be able to keep 3 adults.

I did see a cat just two weeks ago, so I would doubt he passed or anything like that.

On December 23rd, it was mentioned that the zoo transferred a (1.0) roseate spoonbill to Utah's Hogle Zoo in Utah*.

On February 6th, the zoo announced that its first zoo director, Tim Jones, passed away on February 2nd. He worked at Cameron Park Zoo for 18 years (beginning in 1967), and was the first to develop the idea that would become the Brazos River Country exhibit.

On August 1st, the zoo announced they sexed the giraffe as (1.0) and named it Bodhi.

On August 4th, the zoo announced they, along with the USDA, started a 2-week program to remove the large population of wild American black vultures from the facility using non-lethal methods, at which point, if unsuccessful, then the zoo will impose lethal treatment after they close.

* Worth mentioning that the zoo was in talks to transfer a (1.0) jaguar to Los Angeles Zoo in California in October 2024, but I am unsure if the plans ever came to fruition.

I’m very interested in seeing how this goes. There was a truly staggering number of vultures at the zoo during my visit last year, quite possibly outnumbering the number of visible captive animals. I can’t say I’m optimistic in the harassment campaign, but
