Capron Park Zoo Capron Park Zoo News

The shift toward the summer has begun! Red-ruffed lemurs are now visible outdoors. Also, the zoo's pygmy slow loris died of old-age related causes recently. Currently, the douroculi has access to the loris exhibit in addition to its normal exhibit. I am not familiar with the future plan for the exhibit, but there will probably not be another loris.
The lemurs have now been moved to the islands. Also, the black and white tufted lemurs are now in the former aviary next to the Sadler Building. The turacos are currently being held in the howdy cage in Raibforest because they were irritating other birds and visitors.

A sunbittern is now on exhibit in the rainforest. Also, a new female red panda is on display. Nowthat the 2 pandas are unrelated the zoo wants to establish a breeding program soon.

Do you know the name of the female red panda or what zoo she came from? Thanks!

Also according to the zoo’s Facebook page, the zoo will reopen in the next 2 weeks. They are still ironing out the kinks and said to che k out the website or Facebook page for updates.

Capron Park Zoo will reopen it’s doors to the general public on Friday, June 19th. Zoo members get to visit on the 17th and 18th of June before the general public. The Rainforest, Nocturnal, and Sadler buildings (as well as the splash pad kids area) will be closed off due to state regulations, and visitors must be wearing masks, conforming to social distancing, and only go through one set trail with the entry and exit points in different places.

I assume that’s Leela from Oklahoma City. I knew I didn’t see her in OKC on Monday. This is likely a breeding recommendation. She previously birthed Khyana (still in OKC) and Ravi (now at Sedgwick County.)
I can confirm that the new red Panda came to us from OKC zoo.
