By the way, it's Nissen.

And I'm not sure it is.

But it's the shape of a Nissen Hut.

Oh you never know. It might have been made by a Japanese car manufacturer. Although going by the age of it, its more likely a Datsun hut. :)

I don't think its actually a nissen hut either by the way. But it certainly is ugly.

I quite like the little tragopan/magpie aviary. As for the mantellas, I don't get why the zoo would get rid of the epaulette sharks which could only be seen every now and again, and keep the blue-legged mantellas on-show which are never seen at all! Are they part of a conservation display or something?

Comments from various members of the public suggest there has been another litter of Capybara born.

There are now pages for more reptiles/amphibians on Chester's website including: Parson's chameleon, golden mantella and painted batagur. However, as much as I hate to say it, the scimitar-horned oryx are no longer on the website so I think that they are not coming back.

Yes, the zoo has been phasing out the oryx, so a return is not expected. Will be interesting to see if they use the paddock for the Grevy's stallion or something else.

Porcupine have also been added, also just because it is off the website does not mean that it is the end of the species at Chester by any means. One day they may obtain more Scimitar-horned or indeed any other oryx species so I don't think they'll be gone forever.

There are no plans at the moment for Chester to bring back scimitar-horned oryx. the enclosure will be used for the male zebra.

An oryx species could be kept in the grasslands zone, we will have to wait and see, I'd like to see beisa oryx back.

I think there is a baby Philippines dear as well, supported whilst cycling through the zoo today, could be mistaken though.

There was one born on Boxing day that wasn't given much attention due to the birth of a Giraffe the same day, an elephant a few weeks later and the news of a second hatching of Tuatara, unless there is another fawn.
