There was also a birth of spectacled bear last year, but the cub was not reared. It is very good news.
So is the 2017 cub still doing ok?
Let the first photo of the cub competition start
I still say the bear cub will be seen before the blue-legged mantellas.
You will need a big lens and be able to be in the zoo after hours for the best shot at it!
Is it unlikely that the cub will have access to the main enclosure for the time being?
That's what I was thinking.I imagine so, probably because of the moat surrounding the bear enclosure.
On my last visit, I noted that the rear part of the left hand side of the bear enclosure is fenced off with mesh (and almost certainly with hot wires too) - so perhaps that is where to look for the cub .
I've seen the bear cub (don't ask) and it's a tremendous success for the zoo, it's just a shame that it'll only venture into the enclosure as a juvenile. Well done to all the team(s) involved.I still say the bear cub will be seen before the blue-legged mantellas.
