-In the Monsoon Forest, the invert cages now have a couple more species in. These being Emerald Cockroach Wasp and some frogs which I will be IDing later.
Did some IDing and am pretty sure that the frog was a Paited Indonesian Treefrog (Nyctixalus pictus). Also whilst looking at photos I took i'm pretty sure that the Philippine Tree Skink/Emerald Skink (Lamprolepis smaragdina) are now on-show in the reptile vivs in the Monsoon Forest. I am uploading some photos now.

I'm checking ZTL for Chester species bit by bit as I update my old species at Chester thread.

It is Emerald Skink but don't expect them to stay in that exhibit long as nothing else has!!!!

The two new animals in the zoo are very much welcome species, especially agouti it's nice to see them return again. I am very excited to see the new islands area! I just pray the aviary has a few new birds that aren't already in islands ( Sumatran laughing thrush is what I want to see there) such as anymore java sparrows I think the Bali aviary has enough hehe.

No I stay clear as its stupidly busy and can take an hour to get across the city.

Still does not excuse drinking that early.....no wonder we as a nation have this image around the world if people are drinking at that time in the morning.

Why does drinking at 9am need an "excuse"? Each to their own.

(And I don't drink alcohol)

I suppose it does not, depends on how you were brought up I suppose. I see it as a not an everyday every hour drink. I also don't see the zoo as somewhere to go and have a drink.

I also think if you need a drink you have a problem and if you cannot get around the zoo with out a drink then again you have a problem. Nothing wrong with having a drink, I do dable with an alcoholic beverage every now and again, but its not something I need.

Without wishing to turn this into an alcohol thread ... ;)

I suspect the 9am start is just to cover themselves against all eventualities such as an 11am wedding with drinks for guests on arrival.

I very much doubt we are going to see drunkards reeling round the Oakfield Gardens at 9.15am.

:)

No and exactly what I was thinking. :) 9am covers them for opening time and just before.

In the 1950's Bristol Zoo used to have a 'bar' next to the main restaurant on the West side of the Zoo. I used to think it was a strange place(in a zoo that is) to have a bar, it always seemed empty but perhaps men taking their families to the zoo would pop in for a swift one. In those days social events at zoos were non-existent of course, and you rarely saw any visitors in the teen-30's age range.
