Chester Zoo Chester Zoo News 2020

What's in the new enclosure next to the penguins? Imagine you are standing looking at the penguins through the glass panels - the enclosure to your right, up the slope.

That's where the back of the Black Lemur enclosure is - is there something new in front of that?

If you mean Alaotran gentle lemurs, then they already have them.

If you mean a different bamboo lemur, I’d be interested to hear what species and where from?

It sounds like Chester is at risk of being overrun by lemurs - and I'm all for it! :D

Oh I didn't know that which enclousre are they currently in at the park and I was wondering is there anything still on lemur island

There is a group of Ring-tailed Lemurs on Lemur Island (separate to the group in the walkthrough).

I thought the plan is to open around the end of October, but this could have changed.

I've heard October 24th mentioned recently, but timescales may change & there may be select member's viewing days before a general opening? The zoo is also intending on doing a Facebook live tour of the new build (similar to what was done during lockdown) with the aim of easing congestion traffic when the exhibit does open.

Bornean Orangutans: on Facebook, Chester have 'announced' the birth of Willie and Leia's daughter which happened on 4 July 2020.

Fantastic news!!! How many Borneans do they now hold? I've worked out 2:4
(Martha, Sarakei, Leia and the newborn) let's hope Sarakei may be pregnant again as well

Tuan is still there, though not with the breeding group, so 3:4 - Tuan, Willie, Tombol, Martha, Sarikei, Leia and newborn.

When did Tombol arrive?

Yes what is the identity of Tombol and where did they arrive from and when. Additionally how old is Tombal. Chester having a resident Bornian Orangutan named Tombal is news to me. Well I guess that you learn something new every day.
