Is there any sense of when they might reopen? Would like to get to Chester soon, but it would be quite a journey so wondering if we’e miss out on much. Do we know when in April HoA is opening?

They aren’t going to reopen whilst the risk of Avian Influenza is still in the area. Hopefully it will clear up in the coming weeks.

Hoa is due to open early April i believe.

On the plans they were in an enclosure in front of what was then going to be a restaurant, between the building and the main savannah paddock (it was meant to be potentially mixed small carnivores - foxes, mongooses etc). I think this was still there on the revised plans.

Am I right in remembering that the original plans also had Cape ground squirrels in the mix with the mongooses (I think the original plan was for dwarf mongooses) and foxes? Hopefully they will still be included.
 
I will be visiting next weekend and was wandering if any parts of the zoo are closed to the public?

No longer a member as only get here maybe once every 2 or 3 years and NO coach companies now run to the zoo as passenger number dropped off the scale last time I got a coach to Chester Zoo they included Chester itself and only 3 people got off the coach at the zoo.

Oh ok might be worth if you can delaying your visit for a week as the new area is only open to members next week and then public week after.

Are you implying the bus service Liverpool - Chester does no longer stop at the Zoo?

OK, I am glad ... Have not been over to the UK and our well loved Chester Zoo (for various reasons really ... some personal and some to do with the current ...mmmm). Our dear fellow Zoochat member @AdrianW1963 was not clear on this ... Sorry, Sir ... I don't know what heck of the woods you need to travel to get to Chester by public transport. I agree though it is one of those things that quite a few zoos seem to ignore or not invest in ... too much.
