I saw the previous one pretty soon after she went on show and couldn't believe what a stocky little thing she was, I was expecting something delicate looking!

They grow up quick, one of the calves at Bristol I saw at after a about 6 months (after a few visits of trying) and so surprised at the size of her.

Okapi's are amazing and even more so when you hear them for the first time!

The Baby has been on show as far as i know just the once on friday , we went yesterday but couldn't see the baby only the adult ones

white-winged wood ducks hatched in the Tropical house. The first since 1993.

Rare ducklings make a splash at Chester Zoo - Liverpool Echo

I saw them today, photos to follow :) I hadn't realised that the duck is full-winged until she flew round the enclosure (I think the drake has been removed).
Should I have been surprised to see a very large turtle in with the caiman next door?
The best entertainment was watching Komala getting frisky and eventually persuading Asha to run around with her - a couple of tonnes of rhino cantering round the paddock made the blackbuck get out of their way in a hurry. I have photos of them too :)

There is a male Bornean giant Pond turtle (Orlitia borneensis) living with the caiman. He and his offshow mate are destined to go in with the false gharials in Islands.

Komala likes chasing the blackbuck :D

Baringo Giraffe calf born yesterday afternoon to Dagmar; it's the second calf born to both Dagmar (previous offspring 'Kanzi' b. 2012) and Meru (previous offspring 'Zahra' b. 2014) and is as yet unsexed.
