The new elephant barn looks like it will be underground that makes the most sense I just can't see them cramping more elephants in a building that's been out dated for the elephants they have or any future ones they bring in.
Here is my breakdown of the master plan in video form:
Wildlife Canyon will be demolished well before that, once they get the animals to new locations in the fall. No, I can imagine Wildlife Canyon will be demolished (there isn't much to begin with) sometime in July/August 2019 and Roo Valley will open in May, June or July 2020. Tiger Canyon was closed in August of 2011 and was completely resigned into Cat Canyon by July 2012.
I cried yesterday. The last white tiger, Popsy, was euthanized.
Cincinnati's last white tiger has been euthanized, zoo officials say
Allthough, naturally sad as it was an iconic animal for the zoo, I really do hope it is another collection phasing out white tigers from their collection. The last white tiger, Popsy, was euthanized.

Thank you very much @geomorph, it did actually take quite awhile, causing a 2 week release gapThis is a great video, I am so impressed with your video skills! Integrating all the maps with graphics to illustrate the plan looks time-consuming.
Or Himalayan Tahr, honestly. Or maybe Bharal?Well I found out why there are wild sheep "mixed" in with Elephants in the Elephant Trek graphic. I have no idea why the zoo didn't include it on their website but there's a different, fuller map I found on the video of a news site. In the back left corner, will be another large exhibit for these wild sheep. Fingers crossed that it was just a poor representation of a Takin
See for yourself:
If you zoom in on that particular rendering, though it is of poor quality, the animals appear to be much thicker and taller than a sheep. It would be nice to get a new wild goat/sheep species but it would also be nice to keep at least one of the Asian hoofstock from Wildlife Canyon.Or Himalayan Tahr, honestly. Or maybe Bharal?
Kind of hard to acquire phase-out species barely (if at all) present in the US...Or Himalayan Tahr, honestly. Or maybe Bharal?
It defiantly looks like a takin in the corner of the video.

Also, I'll be visiting the zoo next week. Anything special I'll be able to see that is new?
Cincinnati Zoo Changes
I'm pretty sure there is more, but that's all I remember as of right now.
- In Jungle Trails, the Gray Bamboo Lemurs were off exhibit, and some Pottos.
- There was no signage for Warthog in Africa, and Walter was not there.
