Isn't the fox exhibit bigger than the armadillos?
Nope, it is smaller (smallest original Cat House exhibit), and has a lot of obstructive rock work that takes up a lot of space. So this was a better switch.
Yeah, I remember that the armadillos had a HUGE exhibit for such a little animal. One of the foxes of pacing and the other was sleeping on the top of the rock, so I think it would be much better for them. They have more room to go back into the exhibit in the new enclosure for them.
Yes, now that I think about it, the fox exhibit wa like presssed up close to the window with so much rockwork, now that they moved into the other enclosure, the depth and not so muchrockwork in that exhibit will definitely benefit.
The Cincinnati Zoo will soon have three silverbacks. From the Zoo's Facebook post:
We’re happy to be welcoming silverback gorilla Ndume back to Cincinnati! The 37-year-old was born here in 1981 and moved to the Gorilla Foundation in California in 1991 to be a social companion for female gorilla Koko. Koko died in June, prompting the organization that manages the gorilla population in North America, the Gorilla Species Survival Plan (SSP), to consider the best options for Ndume’s future. They determined that Cincinnati Zoo would be the best place for Ndume based on our ability to provide outstanding care, access to modern, flexible, and specialized gorilla living areas, important socialization options, and a team of very experienced gorilla care specialists.

So will there now be 3 troops?
I can't imagine them splitting up the two troops even more. Especially since they just completed establishing M'shindi's group. I guess M'linzi and Samantha could join Ndume.
I can see them getting more females.
Isn’t there a risk that this new gorilla will Be inbreeding with his parents? BTW PETA is talking about how great the move is for Ndume.
His father is at the Forth Worth Zoo and his mother died two months ago at the North Carolina Zoo. The only risk involving inbreeding would be with his half sister, M'linzi.

What? I don't understand your point, the irony was simply how PETA is against all the animals in captivity thing and now they are celebrating Ndume's move to Cincinnati.

Don't worry. As a fellow young member, I can see that sometimes it seems that people are judging my comments, but they are just pointing out errors and mistakes you made.
