Is there an expectated timeframe for Mai Thai and Schottzie to move? Jati has been integrated for a few weeks now at least.
Late August early September is what I last heard. Jati was moved down first as she is the elephant with the most personality so to speak so if she can join the new herd any of the girls can. Being in a more natural social structure and having Sabu back at the zoo have calmed her down a lot so there is high hope that all three girls and the Dublin herd can form one large herd of seven elephants which would be a sight to see.

Having a much larger space will likely do wonders for her aggressive episodes towards Mai Thai. I was very pleased to see her integrate with the Dublin herd so well and so quickly!
Now that I think about it, The zoo waiting to move all of the elephants until presumably very soon before the opening of the complex makes sense, as guests would be unable to view elephants otherwise.

New Elephant Trek update for World Elephant Day!

Heard the opening date’s going to be taking place in late September next month and I gotta say.. I really like the aesthetic is looking now that it’s almost complete! Especially for the exhibits for the hornbills, siamangs, a mixed species exhibit with small-clawed otters and babirusa, and the third yard for the Asian elephants.

Very exciting to see the additional exhibits coming together. I was nervous they were going to feel like throw-in's, but that doesn't seem like the case at all. Ready to see the hornbills out and about in the warmer months.

Even with all of these updates and multiple visits to the zoo, I still can't fully grasp the layout of this entire thing. Should be something truly special to walk into in a few weeks.

On top of that, I think Elephant Trek being complete is going to hopefully put some things in motion to get the rest of the zoo up to speed. Bear Ridge will be completed next year, Jungle Trails will have some new life, and hopefully find out what the future holds for Rhino Reserve, Giraffe Ridge, and the current Elephant Reserve spaces.

Piece of July 2024 News Worth Mentioning:

On July 16th, the zoo announced they acquired a (1.0) red fox from an unspecified wildlife rehabilitator in Ohio after being found in an apartment complex and was later named Scamper.

Elephant Trek Update for Early September
  • Horticulture and theming well underway
  • Yard 2 and Yard 3 small updates
  • Siamang habitat will be delayed for the opening but is the bulk of the work right now "for the next month or so"
  • Only horticulture left to go on otter exhibit
  • Waterfalls, waterfalls and more waterfalls
  • "Maybe the next time I see ya, I'll see ya in person here at the opening"

Hmm.. my best guess for the opening reveal date would be somewhere in late September to early October for Elephant Trek upon watching this..

Spoke with a staff member recently who stated the following, Elephant Trek will be opening at the end of the month. At least the elephant portion with the Siamang Point opening next spring. The area will be completed fully by October but the colder weather will change it's opening. Jungle Trails renovation is planned to open in the Spring as well for the same reasoning. The North America section will open in two phases with the first being the Sea Otter/Black Bear renovation opening next summer. The second phase will be opening up a later date and will use the space where the former white lion pride used to live.

Is there any ideas what the second phase will be?

Schottzie and Mai Thai should be moving into the new exhibit any day now (or already have been) and introduced to the Dublin herd in the next few weeks.

That is not the case, not sure where you got that from. Schottzie and Mai Thai have not been moved down to the new habitat and will not be moved down till late September early October most likely after the habitat has been completed.
