Big cats return to English circus.

A cage act consisting of four tigers and two lions has recently joined Peter Jolly's Circus which is currently playing Darlington, Co. Durham. This act had previously toured with a circus in Ireland and is owned and presented by a member of the famous Chipperfield family.

Wow - this surprises me. Funny it should happen whilst I am away from my hometown.

Quite a lot has been happening in the last year.

Since 2012, all wild circus animals are regulated and must be inspected, approved and licensed to operate by DEFRA vets.

Jolly's has a past these inspections and is licensed. Moreover, the government admits that circuses cannot be banned on ANIMAL WELFARE grounds as there is no case to answer.
