Are the takin already at the zoo?
If they are, they are in behind the scenes holding. They are new to the zoo. They are the only new species in Asian Highlands. Everyone else is being relocated from other locations.

I know lol it’s my current home zoo and has been for a few years. I was just wondering if you knew if they were behind the scenes bc if I’m not mistaken on the 2017 thread someone said they were.

Travis Vineyard - the fellow interviewed in this film - has my new favourite name of any person in the world.
Lulu the baby rhino debuted today. The local news stations had live feeds.
Some questions:
!) what do they plan on doing with the PCA building?
2) isn't the aye-aye in the PCA over 20 years old?
3) when did the name of the temperate animal area get changed from Northern Trek to Wilderness Trek?

1. Snow leopards, red pandas, and cheetahs will move to new exhibits over next year or so. Replacement for primates and aquatics could follow.
2. Calaban is around 23.
3. Wolf Wilderness + Northern Trek = Wilderness Trek. This happened last year I believe. This makes since since multiple species do not live in the north. Especially without polar bears.
Amur Tigers, Caribou, Mexican Grey Wolves, Grizzly Bears, they all live in the North. (Alaska, Amur Valley)
Sloth Bears, Andean bears, Persian onagers, Red-crowned cranes, and Tufted deer (still at the zoo?) do not live far north. Nor do Mexican wolves.

Ahhh. They make up the majority (of animals in that exhibit area) and I will see myself out.
The zoo still has tufted deer.
It you think about it, Wilderness Trek is becoming a Asian core with the Americas on the two sides. Reindeer/caribou actually fit in with both of these themes.
Yeah. I was thinking that too, with sloth, sun and Andean bears they've got.
Scruffy the sun bear moved to Akron a year ago.
Did not know that. Haven't seen that part of the zoo since 2012.
I heard from someone I know that the zoo is gradually phasing PC&A out. This is why you see many of the staple animals getting new exhibits elsewhere in the zoo - snow leopards and red pandas in Asian Highlands, plans for a gorilla exhibit in the old Rhino lot, etc. Between the refurbishment cost and the fuel needed to get the trams up and down the hill, it makes more sense to consolidate everything. Idk what will happen to the building after this transition.
