We went last week and did the zipline and noticed that not only was Swan Lake blocked off but there were a bunch of foam dinosaurs down at the bottom. My girlfriend looked it up and the CMZ once had "Dinosaurs Around the World." We won't get a chance to go on our days off this week, hopefully someone can check it out!

I remember they used to have Dinosaur animatronics around the lake in the summer. I'll be at Cleveland either tommorow or Friday and I'll be sure to check for the dinos then.
 
Went to Cleveland today. Here's what was new.

Main Zoo
  • Flamingo exhibit is temporarily closed for refurbishment.
  • Ruskin the Red Panda is back on exhibit.
  • Both V and Onion were outside. V was very active which I was happy to see.
  • A new boardwalk is being built near the old Lemur islands in WFL.
  • Tiger Cubs were no shows.
  • DINOSAURS will be returning to the zoo. They are currently being built around Waterfowl Lake.

RainForest

  • Emerald Tree Boa has been replaced by Tiger Legged Monkey Frogs.
  • Cape Crested Porcupine no longer signed at rainy Island and the island has a sign saying they're off exhibit.
  • Was told by an employee that October is possibly when The RainForest will close for its interior overhaul.

Sorry about that. I was just copying my notes from my phone and forgot write the details in. V and Onion are elderly so I report when they're out since there was a long stretch where neither showed.

It seems that way. Several exhibits (The entrance exhibits, Ants, upper research exhibit) are now empty and it looks like the Gharials are missing. I'm curious to see what extent they overhaul the building as it was showing its age today.
 
Went to the zoo today and here’s what I noticed.

• The singular Gharial was on exhibit.
• Cape Crested Porcupine are still off exhibit.
• Flamingo exhibit is still under refurbishment.
• Bontebok calf was inside, as expected.
• Marabou Stork was not with the Bontebok, it was my itself in a little area connected to the Giraffe Barn.
• V the American Black Bear and Onion the Harbor Seal were out.
• Bison exhibit had a trailer connected to the indoor holding, so I assume Tighee is getting trailer trained and will probably be leaving soon.
• 2nd pair of Trumpeters Swans are in the Australian pond for the summer.
• There is now a Hooded Vulture in the Ambassador Exhibits that replaced a Flemish Giant Rabbit.
• Long narrow pasture is now being used by the farm animals again.
• Sulpher-crested cockatoo is back on exhibit with the Laughing Kookaburra.
• Black Howler Monkeys were separated in PCA.

I've seen the trailer the last few times I went to the zoo. Glad to hear more exhibit space in Australia is being used, as it was looking rather empty last time. I wonder if the 2nd Gharial and porcupines are gone in preperation for upcoming renovation work.

I hope that is the reason why they have been missing. Instead of the other reason why they could be missing.
 
I would like it if cape porcupines are a permanent phase out. They aren't a rainforest species, and were a lazy replacement for Indian crested porcupines. There's certainly a handful of readily available rainforest species that'd be very suitable choices for that exhibit, rather than a species from a completely different biome.

I wonder if some of the animals in the Rainforest will be moved to the PCA building?

• Spur Winged Geese have moved to the Old Rhino habitat for the summer.
• Onion the Harbor Seal was a no show.
• V the American Black Bear was outside.
• All habitats with pools are filled for the summer.
• A couple Superb Starlings have moved to the little cage on the hill by the giraffes.
• White Headed Buffalo Weavers have left the zoo.
• Female Ostriches are on habitat with the Giraffes which I haven’t saw in years.
• Baby Bontebok was on habitat.
• Marabou Stork are out for the summer.
• Flamingo exhibit is still closed.
• Only animals yet to come outside for summer are the Aldabra and Leopard Tortoises.

Didn’t have time for the Rainforest today.

I'm surprised that tiny little cage by the Giraffe hill is still used. It stands out like a sore thumb. Same with the aviaries in Australia.
