Colchester Zoo Colchester Zoo news 2010 #3

What happened to the other hunting dog was it a male that is now 'missing', 2 new males then 2 new females must have lead to some problems forming a new pack?

There was a fighting within the pack when they were put back with each other. Sadly one of them sustained various injuries that became infected. The pack is fine now with the prospect of pups in the near future.

Just 1 small thing shouldn't this sort of information be put in the Dudley Zoo section???

It was put in the Dudley thread by me this morning, before ZL updated the Colchester side as Bam was only sent onto Dudley Zoo last year.

But surely if he's at Dudley he's a Dudley animal regardless of how long he's been there.:p

I agree, we should still get news on departed animals. The 2 main reasons we visited Dudley zoo last year was firstly to see the Tecton buildings and secondly to visit the hunting dogs in their new home.

Yes sorry I posted about Bam just to inform the Colchester regulars about his demise if they dont look at the Dudley thread.

Update from today:

-New south american enclosure due to be completed in the next few weeks.
-K'tusha the Damara zebra may be pregnant.
-Emily and Otto have been seen mating several times but we will have to wait a few more months to be sure.
- Pygmy Marmoset in with Goeldi's Monkeys in the Ussuri Falls complex.

Do Colchester ever stick to their geographic themes at all? :D

Would the "three females" Jambo lives with be the older African elephants brought in from Germany and the circus?

Yes indeed sad:(. I guess they'll let Baby-Face live out his years alone. Their pool will probably be demolished after he's died.

One thing, is seeing as there still are more plans to expand the area of this zoo, does Colchester zoo have more land area they own that they could expand into.

floosie the squirel monkjey has died and the keepers are hand rearing her baby.

Do you mean Flossie? I'm fairly sure the squirrel monkey called this died a long time ago (well, last year or 2008) as it was reported on one of the zoo programmes, perhaps Zoo Days.

There isn't a squirrel monkey by this name on the list of Colchester animals forum member Zoo Leopard provided, although I gather that the lists might not be complete.
