if you go on the Madagascar express you will notice the wolves will have another enclosure to go into that is about half the size of the show pen.
(but still is quite small)

I don't know what Stanley Holloway and his little boy Alfred would make of it all today![]()
That'd be Albert!
Yes I thought I remembered two enclosures adjoining, both admittedly quite small though. I guess these enclosures have not changed for many years since ?
Again presuming they did dig their way out, and in all fairness, it is quite difficult to easily monitor any den systems and tunnels that may develop in a wolf enclosure, of course they also don`t have to be near the perimeter in an enclosure that is already fairly small for them to easily reach it.
the only shame is that they didn`t dig in the other direction!
I don't know exactly what happened but I don't think they dug their way out.
According to the zoo's web site Colchester-zoo.com the inspection failed to find a reason for the break out, foul play isn't suspected, but get out they certainly did, apparently they say the fence is stainless steel, it looks zinc plated to me but either way a fault was found and out they got. I was more surprised they could get out of the grounds so easily too, after all that is the last security barrier and should be just as escape proof. chain link does have a lot of give in it and if they push hard enough it can come up from the bottom tensioning wire and your away.
does anyone know what happened to the zoos old male leopard "dende"
thanks![]()
went this afternoon and noticed they have put rocks around the fence on the wolf exhibit.
According to another piece of news they apparently got out through a HOLE IN THE FENCE!! ?
Does any-one know how many wolves still currently reside at the zoo?
I find that so puzzling and very hard to believe indeed …
