Anybody else think this looks suspiciously like the corner where Glen lives? Or is it just me because I’m paranoid we’re gonna lose the best nocturnal house in the country to another aquarium exhibit?
WombatWhat is Glen? Most of us don't know animals' names.
Whoops! Sorry, didn’t realize that…What is Glen? Most of us don't know animals' names.
I'm fairly certain there are Nocturnal houses better than the one of Columbus. I'm looking at you Omaha and Cincinnati...Or is it just me because I’m paranoid we’re gonna lose the best nocturnal house in the country to another aquarium exhibit
Fort Wayne replaced echidnas and fruit bats with a stingray touch tank...Whoops! Sorry, didn’t realize that…
The Roadhouse is my favorite exhibit at Columbus, partially because it’s a nocturnal house, and partially because it contains so much rare and unusual stuff (wombat, kiwi, tree kangaroo, etc.). If it gets gutted and brightened up to make room for another aquarium, I’m going to be very angry.
Can’t speak for Kingdoms of the Night, but I loved Night Hunters in spite of its flaws.I'm fairly certain there are Nocturnal houses better than the one of Columbus. I'm looking at you Omaha and Cincinnati...
Ah, “Ringbay Stay”, my favorite kind of unoriginal replacement exhibit. Columbus already has one, but now they’re replacing their nocturnal Australasian animals with a different kind of fish that doesn’t warrant a whole building to themselves.Fort Wayne replaced echidnas and fruit bats with a stingray touch tank...
Or tree kangaroos, or binturongs, or woylies, or lorises, or feathertail gliders…And losing wombats or kiwi would feel wrong.
Saint Louis replaced echindas and tree kangaroos with a robot dinosaur.Fort Wayne replaced echidnas and fruit bats with a stingray touch tank...
Do zoos just hate Australasian weirdo animals or something?Saint Louis replaced echindas and tree kangaroos with a robot dinosaur.![]()
The Roadhouse is my favorite nocturnal house in the US, not necessarily the best, but it’s probably the most unique species-wise.
I forgot that Memphis’s nocturnal house has a roster of species that’s capable of making me faint. Thanks for reminding me that I’ve never been to Memphis and that I need to visit Memphis, good sir. This feels like a lot of pessimistic speculation over the zoo building one aquatic exhibit in a nocturnal house...

This better be what they’re doing. Sacrifice the bar, spare the nocturnal Australasian weirdo animals.I feel like they will most likely scrap the bar when you enter the nocturnal house and build the tank for the dragons there.
Now that makes a lot of sense, I did not think of that. Sadly that is a great piece of themeing for the section, loosing it makes the whole area more generic. However, if that is what they are doing then I don't "mind" the project as much. I feel fortunate to have been last week before it closed.I feel like they will most likely scrap the bar when you enter the nocturnal house and build the tank for the dragons there.
Luckily it says on the first picture "Also, explore some of the diverse habitats and wildlife found in the Australian and Indo-Pacific regions of the world." Looks like the nocturnal portion's staying after all!On September 2nd, the zoo announced that they are building a new exhibit for weedy sea dragons in the Australia and the Islands region. The Roadhouse Nocturnal Building will be closed from September 6th to early 2023 for construction.
The exhibit will be 1,200 square feet and will feature a 10-inch curved acrylic tank, updated graphics, and conservation messages.
