Detroit Zoo Detroit Zoo News 2020

Did Detroit's King Brown snake get transported to Omaha? If so, what was the reasoning for this??
They showed the newly renovated exhibit for the two species of uromastyx and Egyptian tortoises today. It looked larger so maybe the king brown snake's exhibit is now part of the new uromastyx and tortoise exhibit? Also for everyone, somebody posted this picture and it's supposed to be from the Detroit Zoo. What species of turtle is this? It looks like some larger Asian turtles I've seen, but not sure.

A female Japanese macaque was born June 3:

We can't get enough of the adorable snow monkey born at the Detroit Zoo

The baby macaque named Jun, which means “pure” in Japanese, was born to parents Carmen and Haru. She has a big sister, 1-year-old Hana, the first snow monkey birth at the Zoo in 13 years.

Carmen was born at the Detroit Zoo in 2002 and Haru arrived in 2016.

Jun's birth brings the snow monkey troop to 10.

I am sorry, but I think you used the wrong link. This link is for the Woodland Park Zoo baby birds, not for the Japanese Macaque baby.

Yeah, it wasn’t there when I visited last March, so I’d say it went to Omaha then from other recent pics I’ve seen

39 endangered Great Lakes piping plovers hatch at Detroit Zoo in most successful year ever:

The Detroit Zoo is celebrating its “most successful” year of hatching and rearing endangered Great Lakes piping plovers.

The Detroit Zoological Society’s Piping Plover Captive Rearing Program began nearly 20 years ago, but never has it had the impact it did in 2020, when 39 of Detroit Zoo-reared shoreline birds were released in Northern Michigan.

Well, I finally made it out to the zoo today. There were more people than we were expecting, but it wasn’t obnoxiously crowded. I saw the new pronghorn, one of which seemed to be interacting with a rhea through the fence. My mom got a video of the new baby macaque, which I unfortunately did not see when I visited the habitat (we split up to explore the zoo at our own paces).
