Zoo Dresden Dresden Zoo news

Some more intresting births at Dresden :
- Kirk's dikdik ( end of Januari )
- Mouse deer
- Bedford's takin

Perhaps a fitting replacement for the white saltwater that died and from a conservation perspective also more interesting.

It would be nice to have a few more founders from Australia for European zoos. All (or at least most that I know of) current freshies inside came directly from Frankfurt's breeding program.

2 more intresting hoofstock-births :
- on Jan. 30 a male Javan banteng
- on Feb. 1 a female Red forest buffalo :).

My suggestion - all elephants In zoos get a body cam with direct transfer to the Internet - then everyone knows exactly about the mating behavior of Tembo and Co. notice. As far as technically possible, as soon as an elephant bull lifts off the ground with the forlegs, an alarm tone should be triggered on the Internet - it could be a mating.:)"Mating alert, Mating alert....";)

Unfortunately no elephant is pregnant yet. Tembo mated for the second time with Sawu and Mogli is now with Tembo! With Drumbo, pregnancy is probably not yet known, mating occurred only a month ago, and pregnancy is not recognizable in elephants until three months at the earliest.
