After a female-calf born to the Java-bantengs on Sept. 16 last year, the second breeding-female gave birth to a male calf on Dec. 24. The small herd at Dresden now contains 5 animals - breeding-bull, 2 breeding-cows and the 2 calfs.
 
On February the 18th Shensi takin Chendu gave birth to a male, he was given the name Dagu. According to the Instagram post Dagu is the eighth successful birth of this species at the zoo.

On the 11th of May a male Chapman's zebra (Equus quagga chapmani) was born, he was given the name Django. He is the fourth foal of mother Zyta, whose youngest daughter Camina (2020) still lives in Dresden. The fourth member of the herd is Bolani, a young mare who cameZoo Wroclaw (Poland) in 2020. The father of Django no-longer lives in Dresden, he moved to
Zoo Safari Borysew (Poland) in 2020.

At the end of last year a female Kikuyu Guereza (Colobus guereza kikuyuensis) was born.

In March male Northern koala (Phascolarctos cinereus cinereus) Iraga was euthanised, he was born in Zoo Duisburg on the 26th of June 2011 and came to Zoo Dresden in 2013.

On the 25th of March a female Bactrian Camel was born.

On the 9th of April 5 Eurasian northern hawk-owls (Surnia ulula ulula) hatched.

In April 2 male South African bat-eared foxes (Otocyon megalotis megalotis) arrived from Zoo Magdeburg.

On the 21st of May a Round-eared elephant shrew (Macroscelides proboscideus) was born.

In September a female Nyala (Tragelaphus angasii) was born for the first time in 5 years.

On the 11th of September female Linnaeus' two-toed sloth (Choloepus didactylus) Lele gave birth to twins. Sadly one died one day later and the other has since been getting bottle fed.

On the 1st of October 2 Nilgai (Boselaphus tragocamelus) were born.

On the 2nd of November a White-faced saki (Pithecia pithecia) was born.

On the 8th of November 2 Bearded emperor tamarins (Saguinus imperator subgrisescens) were born.

In December the zoo received 2-year old male Bian Fu from Zoo Liberec, he will become the new breeding male. The current breeding male, 12-year old Chen has been sterilised but potentially mated with the females before this procedure took place.

At the start of February a 8-month old female Southern three-banded armadillo (Tolypeutes matacus) arrived from Zoo Budapest. She will eventually be paired with the already present male, she currently lives behind the scenes with the elderly female.
