Dumbest One star zoo reviews

Here is a 1-star review about Colchester Zoo:
The zoo is wonderful but at the time of our visit it was too crowded (despite the requirement to book a slot), no social distancing, and most people were not wearing masks indoors. No-one was there to ensure that the Covid measures, advertised on the zoo website, would be taken seriously. Please respect visitors by ensuring everyone's safety.

How can the zoo be wonderful and only gain 1 star?

Here are 2 1-star reviews about London Zoo@
There was no animals - WE WERE HERE FOR 3~4hrs and saw only Giraffe, Camel and butterflies …
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE !!!!

Went to the ZSL London zoo today with family. What a waste of time and money! No animals, all indoor things closed. Please don’t waste your money. One gorilla, couldn’t see him, one lion asleep couldn’t see him, one tiger somewhere couldn’t see him. Absolute rubbish for one of London’s main attractions. Gift shop is a rip off, so is food and drink! Please don’t visit! Absolute rubbish! Such a disappointed family today. Go elsewhere where there are actual animals to see. Shocking that they call this place a “Zoo”

These people must have avoided several places in the zoo

"Actual animals to see" lol !

Maybe they spent too much time playing crazy golf

Paignton Zoo in May:
Terrible! no animals ..... understandable there are restrictions to areas etc but there are literally no animals, the ones you see look unhappy pacing, poor enclosures and in disrepair.
How did the visitor see that no animals were unhappy pacing?

This one was actually a 5 star review, but it was so funny I had to share. This is from the North Carolina Zoo. It is one of the newest reviews so go see for yourself!!:D

"I ate a child"

"I ate a child"

Okay..... o_O...Not so much funny as it is disturbing

I hope that was someone joking and not some cannibalistic or pedophilic poster.

Paignton Zoo July 2021: " cages & enclosures are overgrown and empty a sad excuse for a zoo please dont wast your money read other reviews too no lions or tigers but mo signs to tell you they are not there the enclosures tell the story "

Sorry to say but I saw 2 Tigers today at Paignton Zoo and even got pictorial evidence.

Also Jul 2021 " My niece was really looking forward to the day out but we must have been really unlucky as we seen a rhino, 2 bongos, a gorilla & birds. No big cats, giraffes, wolves, etc"

Paignton Zoo did update quite a while ago that their Maned Wolves are off show due to developmental work.

June 2021 "Camel field overgrown and empty. " Yeah, they haven't had Camels in a while.

This was a 2 star but I feel it fits. It's from Sept. 2020: " *insert rant about there being no elephants and camels* I also thought there used to be penguins at this zoo but apparently they are no longer there anymore either." I'm not sure how old the poster is but in 23 years of going to Paignton Zoo I have never seen Penguins there. Living Coasts, yes. Paignton, no.

Stone Zoo in Massachusetts:
"All the animals were sleeping and the ones that we could see the glass was so filthy you could barely see them. Flamingo pond was so over crowded and disgusting green water.Bees were everywhere I had my 6 month old in a stroller and they were all over him. My daughter spent more time running from the bees than anything else. They were literally everywhere even crawling on a friends shirt and all over my fiances shirt."
Note, the review was written in 2017, before the Carribean Coast exhibit was built.
But still, complaining because the animals were sleeping.

Smithsonian National Zoo:
"The Pandas did not show up"
"There were very few animals on display"
"We saw maybe two animals because everything else was either unavailable, feeding or sleeping."
"Not sure where the animals were"
"Hardly any animals"
I'm sensing a theme here
Also:
"My least favorite part of the zoo was the American “trail”. In defense of the zookeepers, it’s called a trail and has no promise of animals. The entire trail is sparsely populated or cared for. Sprinklers are misaligned, yard work neglected, and animals not present. It was very reminiscent of my own back yard."
A series of pictures was posted along with this review, showcasing an area that actually was NOT the America trail and intentionally doesn't have exhibits.

2. "They don't have Alligators or Crocodiles."
3. "Boring"

First of all, someone really needed to check the website. I always check the website to see which species a zoo has before I go.

Second of all, The "boring" part. While the zoo is quite small, one can still find some very interesting species there, and occasionally you'll get very interesting animal antics (I saw the otters climbing the trees).

I did like the Capron Park Zoo, nice hidden gem. However, some exhibits definitely need renovation. Plus it isn't one that I usually go to because It's too small to be worth the 1 hour drive from Worcester. Great place for Attleboro/Southern MA locals though, especially families with young children.

North Carolina Zoo:
"Unfortunately there are only a few exhibits here, and of the few they have-most animals were not out or visible. There are no Tigers, there are no Koala Bears or kangaroos. There are 5 other continents on the earth and yet they only show are North America and “Africa”. That being said, I would recommend starting at the African exhibit because honestly there isn’t much to see in the “North American” exhibit. Did NOT SEE the otters, Lemers, Polar Bears, nor the Black Bears, for whatever reason they either weren’t visible or the zoo had them inside. There’s also no longer a grizzly bear exhibit. A nearby restaurant recommended better off visiting Mooresville tiger zoo or the lazy ranch for a much better experience!"

Not pulling them up again because looking at the whole TripAdvisor page for the zoo gives me physical pain, but Binder Park has many... interesting reviews. They claim it's the worst zoo they've ever seen (as someone who's visited Indian Creek Zoo I envy them), that there are no animals, complain about no tigers or elephants, and thought Wild Africa was to paraphrase "a crappy far away field". Lots of them also complain the zoo is expensive, when $15 admission seems pretty fine to me. The weirdest I remember was someone who thought there were no snow leopards and the zoo was lying about having them because they didn't see any.

The Google review page is much better!
